People here can--and do--inspire each other, however, motivation, like all energy, comes from within. It doesn't have to be life-long motivation; in fact, my best model for doing my exercise is an alcoholic friend and her relationship with AA. She asks for one-day-at-a-time motivation/energy to stay away from her nemesis. And she says if she makes the mistake of looking down the years and realizing how many and long they are, she gets very, very discouraged. One day at a time, she can manage.
It seems a good idea to use the gym for what you can't do at home. Me, the only reason I use the gym in summer is b/c it's air-conditioned. I can work out harder without melting.
That's a great quote, Rebcca, about owning our limitations (not). I'm gonna use that one quite often, I'm afraid.
Every moment is unique, unknown, completely fresh. ~~ Pema Chodron
Hi Walden, I find it terribly difficult to stay motivated - especially when I'm not seeing results the way I'd like. But if you need motivation, just get on line! SP will be there to help motivate you! Of course, no one can get you up to exercise - you have to do that - but SP will sure help! You've done the hardest part - getting started. If you're not sure what to do, just start walking - that's what I try to do - even if it's in the house.
Good luck on your journey!

Good morning Walden,
Early on in my quest for a healthy lifestyle my man reminded me often of a quote that I had pointed out to him. It helped me get over my negative thinking and defeating self talk. I hope it gives you the same motivation it gave me.

it has been awhile since I have been at the gym. did not have the money to put in my gas tank and I do not like doing exercises at home. so today I am going back to the gym and I am hoping I can do as much as I use to do. I am thinking of doing strength training at the gym and cardio at home, like riding my bike or going for walks. I have to keep motivated because I am just beginning to lose the weight I have needed to. being that it is summer time and I hate the heat this is going to be a struggle for me. so if I begin to lose motivation I am hoping there will be someone that can motivate me again.
