You might try resistance bands--storing them takes NO room, there are lots of good routines available, and they'll get you started on strength training easily.
I've found that, unless I already use a piece of equipment, once the new wears off, it's a clothes rack. (If there are lots of the Bowflex on CL, maybe buy it used?)

If I had space at home, I would get a power rack with a barbell and free weights. That would allow me to continue to train at home doing barbell squats, bench presses, overhead presses, rows and deadlifts. I would be able to do pull-ups too. These exercises would be more than enough to get ripped, given proper nutrition of course.
No way I would spend that money on the Bowflex.

I have a Bowflex Motivator (oldish model) that does allow all the exercises I ever want to do. Mostly I use it out of guilt or if it is too cold and icy to be outside. Mine folds but still takes up a fair amount of space. It does motivate me somewhat....but... Knowing what I know now, I would probably not buy it (or one like it again) and would just do free weights and bands. etc.

The new Bowflex home gym Extreme SE 2 (2014 version) is $1300... a big investment. I constantly see them for sale on Craigslist which made me wonder if it's worth buying.
I was wondering if anyone out there has used them, and whether they stopped or kept using it a lot.
I already have a Gold's Gym elliptical (which I love - quiet, although it takes up a lot of space), and an AFG recumbent bike which I also love, but I need strength training and am not a gym person or a free weights type.
