the patent office is a start then an attorney to CYA on your design. I have sold a few ideas to company's. there is some but little money in doing that. If you have done the development and sell the patent you can make a lot more money.

If you don't have the ability to find a manufacture, distributor, retailer etc., you may check into licensing your product and let someone already setup do the heavy lifting for you. Check out http://www.money4ideas.com

Hey guys. I have an idea for an invention. Do any of you know how I can patton it or whatever so I can become rich? I can't find anything on the web cause I don't know what to believe. If I give my idea, someone might steal it. How do I do this and is it gonna cost me money that I don't have to get it started? I know the old saying, "it takes money to make money" Thanks
