I quit smoking many years ago by playing those "mind games" with myself. I would say if I still want it in 15 minutes I'd have it, but by then the craving would pass and I'd be ok. Thanks for the reminder! I'm going to try it with food! Also, some people say if the brush their teeth they won't keep snacking - but I wouldn't care - LOL!
There was a song from winnie the pooh that I just remembered-- Mind over matter will make the pooh unfatter. For the most part you are NOT hungry-- you are BORED. Find something to do. Drink some water first. If the water does not take away the hunger than eat a little something. Play games-- I can have the cookie after I get this load in the washer or finish the dishes or make my bed. I usually don't remember that I wanted the food after i finish the task. maybe take yourself for a walk. call a friend on the phone. I agree that the snacks in the house should be healthy-- carrots, celery, maybe some nuts (these are my downfall), grapes, orange, etc. clean out the chips, pretzels and other snacks until you have better control I had a friend that would "close" her kitchen. After dinner she would do the dishes. Then she would leave the kitchen and turn the light off. it was her way of saying that the cafe was closed and would not open until the morning.
As an emotional eater, you're probably eating at night because you're bored. If you've been tracking your food and you're within your ranges, you could always having something healthy when you want a snack at night. I know, it sounds ridiculous, but it can help.
Or, you can find something to do so you're not bored. Even just changing your routine a bit might help. I've started going to the gym RIGHT after work, and then eating dinner a little later. By the time I sit down to watch TV, I'm not there long enough to get bored or start craving the food in the commercials.
For a little while, you might want to make sure that the unhealthy snacks you are craving aren't in the house. If I have to go and get the food, I'm less likely to make it to the store and back without talking myself out of it. Especially if it's easier to just get an apple and a glass of water from the kitchen.

At night when I get how I munch. I am not hungry but my mind tells me that it wants say salty or sweet and I don't know what to do.
I am tired to being the weight that i am and i feel that if i can get that under control i would be ok.
