I agree with the above--if you think your workout is boring, you'll never stick with it. Since you're getting some cardio exercise in with your dance classes and hiking, maybe replace your "boring" Monday workout with strength training and add another strength training day on Friday.

I love strength training and yoga for mixing up my fitness routine. Finding things that you look forward to is very important to keep doing it. Yoga is essential right now when things are stressful, helps me center myself and stretch out the tension.

Strength is definitely a good idea.

Also, I'm going to be honest - if you think your workout is boring (normal, boring fitness center stuff), you're not going to stick with it. I know this from my own experience. Maybe try to find something you LIKE doing - lots of people LOVE zumba, or try a bodypump class or spinning, heck, even a vinyasa yoga class might be something you enjoy.

I was shocked to discover I enjoyed the challenge of running and swimming and I hate group classes, but it took a lot of trial and error for me to get here. But when the going gets tough in my weight loss, enjoying my exercise really helps me stick with it and it should help me keep the weight off when I get to a maintenance weight.

So have some fun with it and try to find something that motivates you.

Hi Crystal

I don't see any strength training in your plan. I would highly recommend adding 2-3 sessions of full-body strength training each week. It doesn't have to take a ton of time- 20-30 minutes can give you a good workout if you're using challenging weights.

So last year after Christmas I decided to lose weight. In about 6 months I lost about 25 pounds and then in 6 months I have gained almost all of it back. Not making excuses but I've been under a TON of stress these last few months. So I again hate the way I look and am trying to get back on track.

Monday-normal boring fitness center work out, probably 30-60 minutes of elliptical or something
Tuesdays - Dance class [jazz 1:15-2:45]
Wednesdays- hiking
Thursdays -Dance class [same as Tuesday]

I also walk my dog for about 20 minutes 2-3 times a day. Any help or suggestions for the rest of the days and tweaks on what I've got would be helpful.
