RSLIPPERS,

With all the stress you're going through, many strong people would snap. That's a lot for one person to shoulder.

As I tell all new members,"Don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". if the only healthy thing you did was drink 8 glasses of water today, that's still a step in the right direction.

Quitting smoking and losing weight at the same time won't be easy. One thing you might do is join some of the great Spark Teams for members trying to quit smoking. the teams are a good way to talk to people going through the same thing.

I know things seem very overwhelming right now, thus the need to take things slowly. There are no fast ways to lose weight. Weight loss is a slow steady process that takes time. That's why Spark People encourages its members to start with some simple changes first. start by eating a couple extra servings of fruit and veggies each day. start by drinking more water in place of soda. start by trying to get a little bit of exercise. it doesn't have to be much. if you find you can't walk, then sit in a chair and do some upper body exercises instead. that's a start. And you really don't have to do a lot to start.

If you feel stressed out, post on the forums. the spark community will support you when you need support.

I checked your spark page to see where you lived. Have you looked into these programs for help with your heating bill ? it may not be much, but it's got to help a bit.

RSLIPPERS,

I think you can be excused for the grammar! Holy cow - I'd be stressed just one of those things, let alone all of them at once. Anyone would.
So I guess the good news is that you are normal.

I wish I had some great advice for you...all I can say is just do what you can, as best you can, to take care of the things you can. Don't expect perfection...it doesn't exist. You're not doomed if you want a brownie, and while you can certainly fit treats into a healthy lifestyle, just make sure you are getting other healthy stuff, too (especially veggies - frozen are okay). And perhaps don't eat an entire box of brownies (as I would want to do).

Even if you are limited in mobility, Sparks has some great exercise videos. And when it comes to taking off excess weight, it really is more to do with what you eat.

I am holding good thoughts for you. Please try to stay strong. I know it must be very hard.
"This, too, shall pass." You've got so much on your plate - no time to worry about jerks in class - try your best to ignore then as they don't deserve your time or energy.
You need to stay as strong as you can for your fiancÚ and baby.

Thinking good thoughts for you....

No we called churches, salvation army and a few other resources..No one has any funds..Becasue our city raised power rates to 15 cent a KWH this fall and most of the people in this city are lower income the funds are gone super fast. The Salvation Army told me that they gave out $55,000 in 4 days to help people. But most people are getting $400-$1000 utlity bills ..rent is also high here $700 is the lowest you will find...even in the slums. Im glad we have my college loans if nothign else ;( Thank you so much for your kind words. I need it. It means A LOT! We were blessed we qualified for food stamps though..if nothign else.

I am so sorry that you're going through such a stressful time! It definitely seems that when it rains, it pours. Are you religious? If so, is there anyone at your local church that can help you out as far as getting your electricity paid?

I need help..I am emotionally strained..I was told I had to give up smoking and lose 80 pound immediately. I have a great support program here for diet and a great program for quitting smoking with my states quit program. they even supplied me with lozenges since I am uninsured. But Im a full time student in a class of jerks who upset me all the time. I have just learned my fiance lost his job, I was denied disability because I lost my insurance and I no longer have a doctor. I have a really messed up back and I cant even go walk. I have a 2 year old who is going through the terrible twos.I lost my grandparents and a roomate with in 7 moths..all died spontaneously.. We had to sell our only car to keep our power on because in our city they are allowed to shut you off in the winter ( I even called the US Dep of health but it is infact legal) and social services told us thier emergency funds were depleted. I am at my max for stress.. If he cannot find a job soon we might become homless or with out power..since Im an online student I cant do my school work with out power (or a place to live) Im about to go make a big batch of brownies and pop corn and binge..I dont even have access to a therapist right now..or family that can afford to help us, not even a couh to sleep on since most of them all have a house full already.. But after learning I almost had a stroke I HAVE to change what I can..my blood pressure was 190/110 when i landed in the ER..I was told to get rid of 80 pounds and quit smoking (which we obviously cant afford any way so thats a given) I need a friend :(
