I've been watching my diet since August and just this past week had two days when I simply did not want to exercise, period. I had a couple stressors to deal with and I believe that set me back till was taken care of, now I am back on track the past two days and feel much better.

One of the biggest contributors to either a sudden or chronic bad mood is a drop in blood sugar, or glucose. Moods are controlled to a large extent by the foods you eat.

A certain amount of fat is essential, particularly if you suffer from low blood sugar....eggs, cheese and whole milk...one or two eggs a day will not harm most people's cholesterol levels and, in fact, there is growing evidence that sugar is much more harmful in raising cholesterol than foods such as eggs, dairy products or meat...try a cup of tea and piece of rye toast with butter or Benocal spread....eat berries, strawberries, apples, pears, peaches to boost mood...eat turkey, tuna, or chicken, low fat cheese, fish, lots of veggies, especially broccoli, spinach, romaine, flaxseeds, oatmeal.....

..........too much sugar can cause depression also.....

Have you been tested for diabetes?

SARAHBEE0123,

Welcome to Spark People !

Have you been under any unusual stress the past few days ? Are you having problems at work, school, home, family or a relationship ? Excess stress can cause depression as well as many other physical, mental and emotional problems. So, if you've been under a lot of stress, that could explain the last couple of days.

Also, could you be experiencing TOM ? Goodness knows I can go through mood swings during my cycle. So, this could be related to your menstrual cycle.

I would wait and see how you are in a couple of days. If the feelings don't go away, it wouldn't hurt to make an appointment with your doctor. Get a full physical if you haven't had one in a while. It doesn't hurt to get a professional opinion.

Maybe it's your TOM? Maybe it's been yucky weather for a while where you live? Cold, wet? I wouldn't worry too much unless the feeling persists for several days and you can't talk yourself out of it. emoticon

If it lasts more than a few days, I would be inclined to make an appointment with your Dr. I would suggest that between now and then, jot down anything that may trigger your emotions, because sometimes by doing this it is easier to get to the cause, which means that it can be solved more quickly.

As far as the eating is concerned, try distraction techniques. Perhaps going for a walk is a good place to start - take in the sites, sounds and smells. The extra daylight might be beneficial to your mood - often when autumn/winter sets in, some people suffer a dip in mood. The exercise outdoors provides not only Vitamin D, but also helps those 'feel good' chemicals in our brain.

Good luck,
Kris

I have been doing phenomenally well (by my own standards, I guess) for the past month or so that I've been doing this weight loss thing. But within the last couple of days I have just gotten SO depressed and honestly I can't even pinpoint a reason. But I am miserable emotionally and just want to eat comfort food so bad. Is this just a normal part of the mental aspect of losing weight or is it something I should go see a doctor about or what? HELP! :/
