thanks Eric. Man oh man, have I been stressed lately, and the one thing that makes me feel better is simple carbs. Chips, margarita, etc. I feel like I can't control myself. I hate to complain, but I have some mega stress issues going on right now. I will read the article you gave me and see if that helps. Thanks, man, I could really use some support right now.

Yes- self-control and eating statisfying meals that keep you filled up. Probably eating more often, in smaller meal amounts, too.

You have to make a choice and when you are bored, don't fill it by eating. If you must eat, then choose something healthy and avoid temptation by not even buying bad stuff. I used to like potato chips- now I don't buy them at all, and for snacks we have triscuits, hummus, fruit and carrots/veggies, peanuts, almonds, instead.

thanks guys. Also, I'm assuming that these dinners satisfy you. I guess I mean in terms of cravings more or less. Or maybe I mean sort of like a comfort food. Also, I find that 80% of my gaining weight problem is due to boredom and eating out of habit. Any ideas on how to overcome this?

I like sloppy joes. I eat them once every week or two. I use lean turkey and spice them up with cayenne pepper and curry powder. 8oz of lean turkey, some bread and some vegetables comes out to around 700-800 calories, iirc.

This is an example of what we buy on occasion. I just put a little on my salad- very liight use of light dressing, for a bit of flavor.

I don't worry too much about calorie amounts for dinner. I try to limit bad snacking. We eat alot of pasta. I know it gets a bad rap, but I don't care- it works for me.

We also have pork chops every other week or so, prepared along with a complex carb. We have decent sized-salads w/ low-cal dressing......

i'd rather eat some hearty dinners and eat an apple, other fruit, handful of peanuts, or a couple of triscuits with a piece of cheddar cheese as a snack later than eat a bland unsatisfying meal and then eat a bag of chips later!

KJ- that sounds like one of our staple meals in our house. We grill chicken every week and grill enough for 2 weekday meals.
