Should be fine to cook it tomorrow. Remember, it wasn't sitting in the fridge that long completely defrosted. Shoot, when you make a Thanksgiving turkey you usually have to take it out of the freezer on like Sunday for it to be defrosted by Thursday! Like Cortney said, if it's bad, you'll know. Bad chicken smells really bad. Also if the individual packages are the vacuum sealed kind, you're especially good, those don't spoil as fast.

Oh, so it'll still be okay if I leave it in the fridge tonight? Because I'm too tired to cook now and I've got to get up early tomorrow.

what you are describing is normal... if it isn't any good you will know.
You can cook it now, then eat it tomorrow, or it should be ok until tomorrow if kept cold. If you don't use it tomorrow, pitch it

I apologize for creating a new topic, but I thought I'd get a faster response this way.
So the chicken (Two chicken breasts in individual packages that were previously frozen) that I put in at 10am yesterday morning has defrosted.
I know at least one of you who responded to my other topic said that you have left chicken in the fridge for two days to defrost and it was okay. And I think some people said that I could leave it in the fridge over night.
However, I think I left it in the fridge for too long. You see, I was going to make the chicken for dinner, so I was going to take a peek at it around five and start cooking. But my friend came over around that time and she stayed for a couple hours and we ended up ordering food.
So now it's 8pm and there is no question that the chicken is defrosted. However, it's soft and there is a lot of liquid in the package. I don't know if that's just the melted frost or something. It's cold because it's been in the fridge but I don't know if I left it in there for too long.
I'm not familiar with the germs, bacteria, and salmonella issues of making chicken and I have an enormous fear of it. I don't want to make it now if it's unsafe.
