I just got my fitbit and now I realize just how sedentary my life is. It is a real motivator to get up and move!

POOFERSGRL- you know, chores and errands count as activity too. They aren't things you would log, but if you do them enough, they can raise your activity factor away from sedentary! A fitbit might be great for you to motivate you to do more housework even as you see the added calorie burn when you clean vs when you sit and watch TV. Since you don't want to wear it 24/7, the fitbit is great, because you can "wear" it without "wearing" it. Just drop it in a pocket or clip to your bra, and many people forget it's there until they undress at night!

I am thinking of getting a fitbit, however, I am mostly sedentary during the day. I only work 3 hours a day in the afternoon and the rest of the day I am either at home watching tv, doing chores or errands.Would I be wasting my money by getting one? What could be my alternative? I also don't want to wear it 24/7. Ideas? Suggestions?

Your fitbit should automatically load your exercise into SP, so you shouldn't need to add an additional entry in your tracker.
