You mean I have to *choose*?!? I don't think I have the strength! LOL
For fruit, there's no question: I absolutely LOVE vine-ripened honeydew melon. You can't get any unless you grow them yourself... they ripen mostly at once in the season, they don't stay at the right ripeness for long, and they don't transport well at all. You simply can't get them in groceries, because those melons are picked green and force-ripened and then shipped all over. They come to us with firm flesh and little sweetness. The "proper" ones are delectably sweet, with a texture very much like a ripe pear. You have to "wear" a goodly portion of them to get them down. But I don't care. Nothing like a vine-ripe honeydew.
Veggies... I have no clear choice. I love carrots, snap/string beans (especially the yellow wax variety), corn, sweet potatoes, Delicata squash! and other winter squashes, the little tiny baby limas, ditto the petite sweet peas, cucumbers, watercress, water chestnuts... I can't choose just ONE of these. I'm a hazard in the produce department!

My favorite fruit are fresh raspberries, love all berries. A beautifully ripe mango can be divine. My favorite vegetable is butternut squash, so versatile, I use it dozens of different recipes, no one alike.

“I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is 'Abortion', because it is a war against the child... A direct killing of the innocent child, 'Murder' by the mother herself... And if we can accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love... And we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts...” ¯ Mother Teresa

I love a potato prepared any way for a veggie and ripe juicy melon (cantaloupe, honeydew, water) is the best.

I pretty much like all veggies and fruits, particularly when they're in season. If I had to choose absolute favorites it would be raspberries for fruit and asparagus for vegetable. But it's all in the freshness and simple preparation.
The absolute best vegetable I ever had was in a little tiny roadside café in northern Greece, about an hour or two from Thessaloniki on the way to Istanbul... and it was simple green beans that had been on the vine an hour before we ate them, prepared with a tiny bit of olive oil and some very simple seasoning. It's been several years but the memory is so vivid I can taste them yet. Sunshine is a great condiment, too!

Actually, my favorite fruits and veggies are exactly what you mentioned; I would only add my new-found pomegranate fruit to the list - messy but so good!

I love pretty much all fruits and vegetables I've tried, but my favorite vegetable has got to be Brussels Sprouts for sure . Favorite fruit - that's a little tougher. I eat Granny Smith apples and grapefruit daily but I think my favorite is raspberries and I also absolutely love mangoes, blueberries, and plums. and tomatoes (I consider anything with seeds inside technically a fruit). I also love. love, love mushrooms, beans, almost all winter squash and sweet potatoes.
what are your favorites?
