No shoes. My floors are creaky and I have people below me. Plus barefoot is my favorite way to be (I'll walk barefoot where I can and actually am able to jog a little barefoot which I can't do in shoes very well). I've never had issues with it even doing aerobics. I have pretty strong feet and ankles though.

My feet tend to overpronate when I exercise barefoot, so unless it's yoga, I wear cross-training shoes (and don't recommend running shoes for anything other than running). And even when my workout IS yoga I have to pay extra attention to make sure my arches aren't flattening or rolling inward.
I do both! I love Ellen Barrett because her workouts typically shoeless. I also like Pilates and Yoga because each requires being shoeless. I do a lot of exercise with shoes as well, so both but I think my preference is no shoes workouts!

Depends on the exercise. If I'm moving around a lot, I tend to wear shoes. But if it's something like yoga, pilates, etc. shoes feel too heavy. It also depends on how vigorous I'm going to be. If I'm doing a video just to move, I might not wear shoes. If I'm intending it to be a hard core workout, definitely shoes.
I made the mistake of trying on a pair of my former high priced over engineered running shoes after being minimalist and barefoot. They hurt my feet, I felt no contact with the ground and they totally destroyed my stride. Into the dumpster with them, I won't even donate them to Goodwill to make sure no one else makes the mistake of using them to run in.

The more you support a muscle the weaker it becomes. The bones of the feet are supported by muscles, if those muscles are weak you develop foot problems. The current research on high priced, over engineered and over padded athletic shoes has demonstrated that the shoes are causing foot and lower extremity problems. I can give the research citations to any who want them. To strengthen your foot muscles you need to work them the same as any other muscle, in my opinion barefoot is the way to go.

If it's aerobic, definitely shoes...but I have a penchant for being barefoot. Strength training is almost always barefoot for me.

I wear shoes except for pilates (I don't do yoga, but that would be a "no shoes" too). I find it harder to do planks and regular pushups with no shoes. I do a bunch of resistance band stuff too and it's harder to hold that band under your feet with no shoes. Also (and this is a personal thing) putting on my exercise clothes and shoes makes a little something in my brain click into "workout mode", unlike working out in my pajamas and no shoes. Even if all I'm going to do is some pilates, I put on my exercise clothes to do it.

I go barefoot. Barefoot gives me a better sense of contact with the floor and as I have mild balance problems, that sense of feeling the floor is important to me. Also, shoes seem to limit the flexible movement of my feet (e.g. pointing my toes in some ballet moves, or lifting my toes off the floor slightly when doing squats, etc.). I want the full, free movement of my feet and shoes inhibit that.
I am a barefoot advocate, the feet have muscles which can not be developed or strengthened when wearing shoes.When it comes to jumping around I still advocate no shoes since martial arts have lots of movement and you do not wear shoes in a dojo so no shoes for Zumba. While there is a somewhat semi painful and uncomfortable time transitioning from shoes to no shoes in my opinion the quality of the improvement in the workouts is worth the effort.

It depends what I'm doing. If I'm lifting, I'll usually go barefoot (on carpet). But if I'm doing Turbo Fire/T25 or doing any kind of jumping I'll wear shoes. I tried to do T25 barefoot a few times and ended up injuring my foot so I went back to shoes.
I agree with the other poster that you shouldn't wear running shoes for anything but running. I collect athletic shoes like some women acquire heels. I have running, cross trainers and minimalist. I select based on my workout.

I use shoes for running, classes, and aerobic classes. As mentioned already, yoga and pilates are typically done without shoes. Well, that and swimming. (Unless you use some sort of aquatic shoe.)
I would also like to point out that running shoes should never, ever be used during a cardio style work out, like Zumba, step aerobics, boot camp, etc. Running shoes are specifically meant for the forward motion of running. They are not meant for lateral (side-to-side) movements typically done in an aerobics class. You could seriously hurt yourself. I encourage you to look into a great pair of cross trainers or studio shoes for aerobic style classes or videos.

i started with shoes, then went no shoes, then went back to shoes. Anything that involves burpees or planks I find better with shoes. Other than that I think its dependent on the surface you're on I have a soft fluffy carpet. What kindda videos do you do?
