Hi Julia,

What exercises have you been cleared by your doctor to do? If you are limited in the exercise that you do due to health issues, you may want to see about getting a referral to a physical therapist or a certified personal trainer who can do a full fitness evaluation on you so he/she can develop a program that will not be contraindicated in your situation.

Unfortunately, it's outside the scope of advice for our members and experts to offer specific exercises for those who have health issues or limited mobility.

Take care!

Coach Nancy

And I also totally didn't even answer your question. :) If you check out the fitness section here on the website, you'll find tons of short, easy videos. If you're living with limited mobility (as implied by your mention of not being able to walk or stand long) there's even a limited mobility lifestyle center! You can access all of these and more under the Articles & Videos menu!

Weight loss is not about the exercises you do. It's 100% about the food you eat. Whatever exercise you choose, be it beginner's yoga or Insanity, you need to adjust your nutrition to create the calorie deficits that will help you lose weight.

Contrary to popular belief, exercise is not how you lose weight. ;) It helps, and it's absolutely critical for healthy living, but real weight loss happens in the kitchen. If you're not already tracking your food and weighing and measuring what you eat, it's time to start!

I know that walking is the easiest and cheapest ways to exercise but I'm unable to do so. What exercises does anyone else do in this situation to burn calories? Do you have a favorite dvd that is for isometric or other exercise?. I can stand some but not long.
Most things I do maintain the muscle I have but I cant seem to burn extra calories. Should I reduce my calories a little to help lose weight?
