I'm curious---what type of doctor tells a patient with a cardiac history to lose weight quickly? Is the doctor an MD?

HCG is rather dangerous. Your wife may need to lose weight but it's not healthy to lose it quickly. We didn't get fat overnight and therefore, shouldn't try and take it overnight. People have nearly died trying this HCG scam. (Countrymama is one.)

Portion control and healthy foods are the way to go. Please reconsider what you are doing to your body.

And honestly, the whole point of exercise is to get your heart rate up to 60% to 85% of the maximum.

i would be leery of any exercise while on this diet, it isn't safe. maybe add a little more walking or work around the house. sorry i don't have more to offer. good luck!

The only good thing about not having insurance is that you don't have to go to the same doctor. I'd recommend looking for a different one, because this one hasn't done his/her homework on hCG. It's a placebo, and you're spending money you don't have for something that's not helping. It's the starvation diet that's causing the weight loss; hCG is proven to have ZERO effect. If you follow the diet and quit buying the hCG, you'll have exactly the same results. Then you can have the money to buy healthier food. Even if you've found a discount source for the hCG, you could still buy a LOT of fresh vegetables with that money!

actually the doc recommended it for her but she need to take a longer break in between. They recommend 6 weeks in between so she is doing 8 and so far is working great she has lost over 30 pounds gained 2 back on the break so is working. We follow the docs instructions to the "T" actually. and the doc says after this next one she is to change her eating habits. And that is the reason for joining sparks for the moral support and also the recipes here and motivational support . this sight has so much to offer. was recommended by the doc.

Wait, your wife has heart problems and is using the hcg drugs? Has she had this cleared by her doctor? That sounds incredibly dangerous to me...

It can take a while to see results the healthy way, but it's worth it in the long run, and you're less likely to gain it back later.

yes what little bit we can do with out insurance. that is why we will be changing our eating habits.

The biggest issue, though, is that once you add calories back in, the weight is likely to come back on. Not all of it, if you eat at a deficeit, but rapid weight loss is just not good for the body. Is a doc supervising your wife's use of this diet?

Thank you for your reply I have spoken to a doc but not in regards to my wife....The doc says she needs to loose weight quickly because of heart and blood pressure. Im doing this diet for her moral so to speak.. I lost 24 pounds in two weeks last time we did this. about 3 months ago. Was told not to do anything to make my heart rate go up. And take looong breaks in between. Thank you so much for your suggestions. This is one of the many reasons we like this site. As soon as she meets her short term goal we will be doing a life change on our eating habits for her sake.

Stretches, preferably on the floor so you don't have far to fall if you pass out! Body weight stuff like planks, chair workouts. Physical safety first IF you are absolutely set on this diet. Have you talked to your doctor? I'll wager not!!!

If I'm remembering what I've read correctly, the hcg diet involves a severe calorie restriction, like under 800 calories a day, correct? You really sould not do any exercise if you are not properly fueling your body. You could damage your metabolism as well as pass out.

Thank you for your honest answer.. I do like the sparks web site Im using hcg for a little bit not paying 100's to do it but anyway. Im truly enjoying this sight lots of encouraging pple here...
The mrs has lost over 30 pounds so far. She has tried many different diets and no success hard to be on a diet and it takes so long to see results.

You will not find much support for HCG here on Spark; they do not advocate any type of severe restriction plan, especially one that uses a hormone that the FDA says does nothing for weight loss. If you're buying the HCG over the counter or the web, there's no or very little actual HCG in it anyway--it's an expensive colored water placebo.

Have you tried using Spark and forgetting about the fads, pills and gimmicks? If you give it time, it will work. It's such a supportive environment here with lots of tools to help you.

As far as your question about exercise -- if you're sticking with the VLCD, you shouldn't do any exercise; you could well pass out or make yourself very ill.

Well I started the hcg diet and would like to be able to exercise. They say not to get my heart rate up.. Does any one have any ideas.. I've been doing 5 pushups at a time and its not making my heart rate go up.....

Any ideas would be helpful
