just some good April Fool's Day fun. That aside, I definitely agree that the BMI should be adjusted...slightly. And it is true that sizes have changed. A woman's size "16" in the 60s is about a size "12" today, so I guess something like this wouldn't come as a huge shock, but it would throw a lot of things off, not just body weight. I'm curious about the phone number listed though. Anyone call it? Maybe I should, I was just thinking maybe it wouldn't work since it's the 2nd now.

And I thought NOBODY got me this April 1st -- what a fool! However, they have changed clothes numbers and bra numbers to fit the vanity of people, so why not the pounds??

It was an April fools joke. The sad part is I believed it until I got to the end where it said that. The government is so good at word spinning I have no problem believing such stupidity.

Though if it were serious I don't think it would be all bad, especially for men. Penn and Teller did a great episode of their show Bullsh** about the topic. Health is what matters and there are skinny people who are unhealthy and many who fall in the overweight category who are actually very healthy, active and fit. Since insurance companies use BMI to avoid covering overweight people, I think it would be just fine to expand the range of healthy weight and include more biomarkers for overall health than just weight and height as well. (Such as blood pressure, resting pulse and blood lipids) . . . They wouldn't likely do it though, because doing that would mess with their normal bell curve, and that annoys statisticians to no end. Despite the research that contradicts the fear mongering of those in the overweight category. (And I speak only of the overweight, not the obese - once you get to obese, myself included, you really should try to lose weight and be supported with the resources to do so).

I agree and disagree with this, I think that BMI should be adjusted, my dad is in the military and stands at 6'5 250 lbs. While he might want to shed a few, he doesn't look morbidly obese and is very healthy. At the same time, I don't think that changing this will solve any problems. We are a society of over indulgence and need to adjust what we eat, the amount that we eat, and the example we are setting for our children!
