I did last week, the weather was so dark, grim, & rainy, I didn't feel motivated for showed when I hit the scale. This is a new week & a new attitude. Can't let an off day, week dictate the future.

I've had a few off weeks and it sucks! I was doing so well too, but then we moved, family and friends came into town (in the middle of our move), my son graduated, I've had job interviews and appointments to take the kids to, my husband's car got towed, etc. Life has been overwhelming these past few weeks and the list goes on and on. I'm barely getting to the gym and I'm used to going six days a week (seven classes a week). I feel like I've ruined all my hard work and it's depressing.

Yes as a matter a fact, this is an off week for me as well. With school ending, kids functions etc. my training is less than I wanted. I normally train 6 days a week and this week I will be lucky to get in 4 yet I find I walk a ton still so it all evens out in the end.

Ooooh I have off weeks a lot; last week I ate burger king and like 20 pieces of Amish Made Salt Water Taffy. The best thing for you to do is to NOT give into those desires, no matter how frustrated you are.

Just envision your goal, keep it in mind and then think back on how much you have ALREADY overcome. Consider whether you want to go back to being the 'you' that you were when you were at your worst. Gather those feelings that made you WANT to loose the weight and push all the desires for the bad things out.

Then listen to some motivational music or watch a motivational show to get pumped.

If you're hungry all the time then consider this:
Are you drinking enough water? Sometimes we feel hungry, but it's a thirst for water.
Exercise is a natural and healthy appetite suppressor (although you probably already know that, since you burn so many calories)

Good luck and remember that you can DO THIS! Don't give up and don't let the off week take your life over

Off-weeks happen and they are often out of our control! I recently had to take 1+ week off from running because my knee started hurting a little. It made me appreciate my workouts and my body for being able to run (when it can) so much more. Ah, we take our bodies for granted sometimes.

BEEBEA, thanks that is a great idea! Any accomplishment can make a person feel better even on an off week ....I think I will drink way more water today than normal :) thank you again!

Nooooo, I'm perfect all the time! Hahaha! Okay, not even close. It is unavoidable having off weeks when you are in it for the long haul, especially if you are injured. Sometimes I like to give myself a challenge like really eating 5 fruits and veggies, or cutting out caffeine, or finishing a healthy living book when I get off track. Anything to help me feel successful, which will give me more motivation when I can get back to working out.

Archimedes, thank-you and you are right, and I realize I am closer to my goal, and that there is more to being healthy ....for me its fighting depression though....I cannot ever remember having a positive self image so I am harder on myself when I d not reach Even my weekly weight loss goals.....I know its silly but I fear I can't be any smaller or that I don't deserve to be...
although I know I can it is just hard working on my mentality about it.

While a safe weekly weight loss would be 1-2 pounds per week, there will be weeks you don't lose. There will even be weeks you gain ! And that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. The weight doesn't magically drop off the minute we decide we need to lose. Weight loss is a slow steady process that takes time. You didn't gain the weight overnight, it's not coming off overnight.

It really IS perfectly normal to have weeks when you don't lose weight. And the closer a person gets to a healthy weight for their height, the slower their weight loss will be. Someone who is morbidly obese could see regular losses. BUT, as a person gets closer to goal, that loss really does slow down. Even someone with a lot to lose will still have weeks they don't lose. it happens and it's normal.

Don't worry, you really are doing fine. But I would recommend trying to stay away from the scale. Remember, there is more to good health than a number that stares at us from between our toes in the morning.

I have off week's. There were like two weeks last month were like everyday i had appointments the were scheduled so that there was no time for working out, and i didn't really plan dinner. Sometimes life just happens and we have to do our best to keep up. The main thing is u didn't give up. You may want to try some chair workouts until you can get back to your normal workout routines. emoticon

I am not having the best week, I have lost 40 lbs and gained a lot of confidence in my new lifestyle, but this is just not a good week. yesterday was a break from my squat challenge (once every four days we break) and early that morning I hurt my knee... I still managed to play some badminton but not much, then today I got up planning on biking and cleaning my house and I have hurt my is worrying me because I only lost 1 pound last week ( granted it is a loss and not a gain) but my date to reach my goal is 9/5/2013 and that is another 23 lbs which works out to be a little over two lbs a week (I think). to top it off I have been so hungry all week! I am much more active than I once was burning 1200-1500 calories with exercise a week ( and I always round the actual time down when entering it) but my doctor told me after I had my son that just because I worked out and felt more hungry I shouldn't eat that bothers me too.

I guess I was just hoping for some words of wisdom from other who are working for better health too, I will appreciate any feedback please....I am hoping I can just chalk this up to hormones or something, we all have a hard time sometimes right?
