This is so funny that I found this question this morning. I am sitting here eating a mid morning snack and as I was chewing, I was thinking of my Dad. He used to tell all of us to chew our food well. My Dad never had digestive problems or weight problems.
When I was working, my meal breaks were sometimes 10 or 15 minutes, so I ate fast.
Now, I eat fairly slow.

It depends on the situation. If I am with others, I eat slow and take my time visiting. If I'm by myself, I tend to eat fast, and also tend to eat more.

I think I'm in between. I don't gobble my food but I also don't put my fork down after each bite and thoughtfully chew - something I am trying to work on.
I eat fast, especially if it's something I really enjoy. I'll sit down with a plate, and next thing I know it's gone and I don't even really remember tasting it. I tend to zone out while I eat, which isn't good.

I tend to eat fast. It's a trait I learned in grade school. Hurry up and eat lunch so you had time left to play. I'm working on slowing down.

It depends on what I am eating and when. For example, I hate when my cereal gets soggy so I tend to eat if fast. If I am out with friends or family I probably eat more slowly because I am more focused on talking and catching up than on the food.

I used to be the same way. Everyone had to wait for me to get done but that was before I went of the semi with my hubby about 30 years ago. It was hurry up to get there, get unloaded and hurry to get somewhere and reload. So all I heard was " hurry, hurry hurry and now it is hard to break that habit.
I have been a slow eater all my life. I am usually the last one to finish eating. I like to savor my food I guess.

They say if you slow down your eating you can lose more weight. One article I read said you can lose about 20 pounds a year by slowing down your eating? It says to put your fork down between each bite and chew at least 20 times for each bite. What do you think?
I have started to eat slower and stretching out my bites. Today I took one bite, set the fork down, chewed 45 times...then counted to 30 took a sip of water and started over again. I did feel fuller faster. It took a lot of effort to remember to do that so I guess I was focused on the food even though watching t.v.
