I track everything I eat. When I began looking at my daily reports, I realized I was always low on protein. Maybe that's why I am so tired. Now I monitor calories, carbs, protein, and vitamin B. I work toward keeping it all in balance.

I haven't been doing either and I am losing weight by eating healthy (watching my portions, cutting out bad foods/drinks like salty chips and soda and getting my protein in the morning) and regular check ups with my doctor), drinking water, and swimming twice a week and walking in between. For me, if I count, count, count, I get locked in and frustrated. So, this has enabled me to lose 50 pounds this year! My doctor says I am right on target and it is working! Everyone is different though.

I keep an eye on it, but honestly I care more about calories and protein than carbs. But, I never get much over 200g a day in carbs, and many days I barely even hit the low number of my range. Heck even today I had a sandwich for lunch (with bread obviously) and some pasta with dinner, and I'm still only at 173g, when my bottom number is 170.
As long as the hot chocolate fits in with your calorie range, go for it.

I buy the instant Suisse Mocha s/f, f/f mixes in the rectangle cans in the coffee section,those taste great and not too sickeningly sweet the way the sugarfree or low sugar drinks taste. Folgers also makes a sugar free double Mocha drink that is tasty, bigger can than the Suisse Mocha. We count calories and carbs, but not down to the last point, the weight comes off anyway, no need to get so nit picky about it.............keep in mind, it's lifetime eating, you have to eat that way, even if you reach goal, can't get away from it, may as well enjoy it.

I count both along with protein and fat, some days I am shy in areas and other days I am over. More often I am not hitting the protein goal, staying low on the carbs, and hitting fat just perfect. Only going over calories 1-2x a month if we get to go to my favorite steak house.
Work it in or look for low carb hot chocolate, I know it's made! You might even find you like another recipe better, check in sparkrecipes.com
