I'm a few days late to the party, but just wanted to wish you well. It's never, ever, ever too late to begin anew. You're right - it is a life-long journey. Whether your doing it or not. : ) Just make the decision and go! You can do this.

It sounds to me like your emotions and your eating are getting all tangled up together. I suppose that's a pretty common thing. Stop and look at your life, the things causing you stress and see them for what they are. Don't allow those feelings to decide what you are going to eat today.
If the stress keeps causing you troubles...refocus it. Channel it into some exercise. Sometimes I go for "angry walks." I focus all my frustration into my walking. Usually, that keeps me from giving into my cravings, it lowers my stress levels...and it burns calories!
You can do this. Life gets in the way when we try to make plans...
Take today to refocus. Look at your accomplishments and take time to visualize how much better things are going to be in a week, month year.

I hope things get better with your family. All I can say is that my family has a lot of "politics/tensions" that have gone on and on for what seems like forever and I totally understand how these sort of things can lead to emotional eating/making poor nutrition choices. It'll take some time and practice, but, you can be successful in curbing emotional eating. So, don't give up and do stick with it. Remember that you're doing this for yourself so that you can be healthy.
Today, try this... Don't say, 'I'm trying to get back on track." Tell yourself, I AM back on track. Be determined. Do it for YOU!

One over indulgent meal or one less than perfect week of eating WILL NOT make or break your healthy lifestyle. As I tell all new members and even long time SP members,"Don't look at good health or weight loss with an ALL OR NOTHING mentality". If the only healthy thing you did for yourself today was drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction.
Every little bit really does make a difference. As the old song goes,"Accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative". Give yourself credit for the positive things you do for yourself and don't beat yourself up because you're not perfect. You don't have to be perfect to be healthy.
So you had a couple of less than perfect weeks. It happens to all of us from time to time. Good new is, you have 50 more weeks ahead of you to make 2013 is the best year yet. Keep at it! You can do this!
What makes the difference between wishing and realizing our wishes? Lots of things, and it may take months or years for wish to come true, but it's far more likely to happen when you care so much about a wish that you'll do all you can to make it happen.”

It was just a temp setback, tomorrow is Monday, a great day for a new start. Success can be as ez as taking a walk at lunch, packing the correct snacks and things for lunch, and as far as worrying about things you cannot do anything about, well, stop. try the trick my nutrition store told me to do, 3 whey protein shakes a day, 3 sensible meals and lots of water. You can do it!

Ok the beginning was not so.great. Start again right this minute. Be kind to yourself. You took a step back but you can recommit now. Don't wait till tomorrow. Everyone here believes in you.

Hi SP community
I had a bad start to 2013....I had a tough argument with my parents - family politics/tension. Things aren't great, and I am sad about it, but think in time, things will get better.
I had previously been diligent with nutrition/exercise, but this past week has been horrible. I keep making poor nutrition choices. Large portions/sugary foods, and inconsistent with tracking.
I am trying to get back on track.... sigh. Talk about lifelong journey......
I guess I am just looking to vent / for help encouraging me to "stick with it"......
