She is so right, if you are far under your calories, you will have issues and slow you metabolism, as it thinks you are starving it. If you are way overeating, you could just not be burning enough. 30 pounds is a LOT to lose in 9 weeks. Even if her formulas were not correct (they are) and you could expect to lose 1-2 pounds a week, well, then you are looking at most 18 pounds. That is more than halfway, but still...

There are two ways to boost your metabolism most effectively:
1) Eat a balanced diet of healthy foods with enough to support your daily activity. Undereating will slow your efforts and slow your metabolism.
2) Strength train. Strength training builds lean muscle, which burns more calories at rest, increasing your metabolism and overall daily calorie burn.
Now, about your goals.
You are talking about losing 30 lbs in two months. How much do you weigh now? If you are over 300 lbs, this is possible. That's an average weekly weight loss of 3.3 lbs per week.
However, if you're not, and that's all you have to lose, you simply aren't fat enough to lose weight that quickly, or safely. A good rule of thumb is no more than 3% of your weight loss goal per week. If you have just 30 lbs to lose, then you will be able to lose about 1 lb per week.
At 20 lbs to lose, you will be able to lose about .5 lbs per week.
At 10, you're down to about .25 lbs per week.
Basically, there's a bell curve, and the less you have to lose, the slower it will cause you to lose.
Before you blame your metabolism, though (most people do not have a slow metabolism, they have slow willpower!) you need to determine what you've been doing in the past to lose weight.
IF you hit the gym, but don't track, you can easily overeat and sabotage your efforts.
IF you start yourself, you can slow your metabolism, and slow weight loss.
If you don't track accurately, using measuring cups and scales, then you are probably underestimating your calories burned.
So tell us what you've done in the past, create a sparkpage with a shared nutrition/fitness tracker, and we can try to help you more directly, but realistically, right now we don't have enough information to help you. How much do you weigh, how much do you need to lose, how much are you eating each day, what's your calorie range?

If you're really doing everything right and can't seem to lose the weight, you might want to have yourself checked for a thyroid issue. It's a quick and easy blood test, but it changed my life. I was the same as you - no matter how hard I tried, the weight just would NOT come off. I didn't even think of my thyroid, but ended up going to the doctor because my hands hurt so much I thought it was arthritis. One blood test later, I was on synthroid pills. All the body aches and pains disappeared, I was able to sleep through the night, my fingernails don't split as much as they did, etc., etc. Since then, I've lost 30 lbs and am well on my way to getting rid of the other 20. When I was 48, I felt like I was 70 years old. Now I'm 50 and feel like I'm 30!

reset your expectations. if you can only lose 5lbs, losing six times that in nine weeks isn't likely to happen. and unless you weigh well over 300lbs, that's not a reasonable goal. if you weigh around 200lbs you can probably do 10lbs in that time. if you're significantly under 200lbs you could do 5lbs in that time. so focus on a first, small, attainable goal and then move on from there.
I eat a lot of greens and other plant based foods that get my metabolism going.

I am bck on this site ...I am looking to boost my metabolism ..I am 40 and found that what ever i do i cant shed my weight the most i can ose is 5 pounds . I wouls like to lose 30 by June. Any advice would be appreciated.MY metabolism is slow right now
