The Weight Watchers desserts are really good. They're around 140 calories and it's unbelievable that they're "diet" food. They aren't real big, so you have to keep it at one serving, but they're delicious. They're in the frozen section.

When I have a sweet craving, bananas and skim milk cut the "NEED" for something sweet. I also enjoy fat free cottage cheese with fruit. It's healthy and delicious, well, to me of course!
KSUGIRL - yes! I LOVE my yonanas machine!!! :D :D :D We have an abundance of bananas that grow here (coworkers, neighbors, and friends are always trying to give them away before they go bad -- hooray for freezing them!), and so I was burning through them - using the yonana machine probably 5 nights a week :) It's a bit loud, and sometimes a pain to clean - but it's been SO worth it to me!!

Currently when I have a sweet tooth I have: 1/2 C part skim ricotta 1/4 C blueberries 1/4 C strawberries drizzle honey **I call it my "deconstructed" cheese cake, lol
Ohh I forgot, another great dessert is a sweet potato with a dab of butter and cinnamon and stevia, honey or sugar.

I work dessert into my calories for the day. I'm able to eat 2 girl scout cookies, or 1.5 servings of slow churned ice cream, or sometimes both! If you eat the right foods, you will be full enough throughout the day to have the extra calories come dessert time.

I made a "peaches and cream" milkshake last night that turned out pretty good!
1 cup frozen peaches 1 cup skim milk splash of vanilla extract
According to my tracker that's a bit under 150 calories for the 16 oz it makes, plus calcium and protein! I'm sure you could switch up the fruit as well, or use almond milk for even lower calories.

I have sugar free jelly (jello) 20 calories a bowl!
Angel food cake with berries is one of my favourites. You can find cheap angel food cakes in the bakery section of a lot of supermarkets. They don't have any oil in them and are mainly egg whites and sugar. You can have a nice big piece for not too many calories. I like to have it with some thawed frozen berries. The frozen berries always seem more juicy when you thaw them.

Daddynard -- LOL. At any rate, a small bit of dark chocolate also works, and most would probably count that as dessert. Or, some un-adorned fruit.
The dreaded night craves!!! *lol* Those were the WORST for my healthy living!! For me, it was a serious addiction - I'd get crabby if I didn't get sugary desserts. So, temporarily, I just cut ALL sugar (including fruit, just for now) and my cravings have gone down over the last 3 weeks. I think I may be able to introduce fruit again soon and test it out...
BUT! That's not for everyone :) If you have a good control, dessert can still be a nice part of a healthy lifestyle! So, What sorts of desserts do you crave?
Ice cream? You could try freezing chunks of banana, then tossing them in a food processor or blender (then leave as-is, or flavor with other fruits, a little cocoa, a bit of peanut butter, etc)
Pie? You could make a fruit pie by cooking the fruit to soft, then crumble a granola mix on it (oats, bits of nuts, little bit of butter, cinnamon, vanilla, etc)
Something chewy? Can you dehydrate pieces of fruit with a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar on them? The fruit sugars concentrate when dehydrated, so it tastes extra sweet!
Something rick? Make truffles: Blend walnuts or almonds with some raisins or dates till it holds together; shape in to small truffles and chill or even freeze. Roll in topping: coconut shreds, oats, cocoa powder, dark chocolate drizzle, etc. (A little higher calorie, but healthy calories!! Nuts are a good source of Vitamin E, walnuts also have a bit of omega oils in them. Raisins and dates have some fiber)

If any of your local ice cream stores carry Wow Cow, you should give it a try. Tastes just like ice cream (well, almost) and is only 9 calories and ounce (so you can have a small cup of it and only "spend" 90 calories or so!!)

Cedarbark1; One of our professors actually pointed out the same thing about that; He used diet soda, but the principle is the same. When you drink something sweet (or eat it), your body expects sugar to rush in, so it starts secreting insulin. But, since its fake (no calories), no sugar actually reaches your bloodstream so you become (slightly) hypoglycemic. When that happens, your body signals the need for more sugar; makes you hungry! Interesting, huh?

frozen fruit..I get the mango,strawberry pineapple and just eat that. It makes me think i'm eating ice cream because its still frozen. Sugar free jello pudding is good they have all flavors of those.

Here's what I have when needed: -Fruit -Yogurt -A mini piece of chocolate (I savor it by letting it melt in my mouth; if I chew it, I usually grab another piece) -Water, reminding myself that I already ate everything I planned on -A piece of sugarless gum
Tonight's a water and gum night. It was needed as I wait for my mom in a kitchen full of sweets. The chocolate chips in the pantry are calling.

Dessert: More of whatever was good at the main meal. Like more asparagus, perhaps a bit of plain yogurt.
I've weaned myself off the sweet tooth. (Too bad chocolate is often accompanied by sugar or sweeteners.)
My go to in the evenings is a bag of light kettlecorn popcorn. The whole bag is around 220 calories and has lots of fiber.
A banana sliced with cinnamon and honey drizzled is good.
A mug of hot chocolate.

If it's chocolate I'm craving, I usually just have a couple squares of dark chocolate. It's satisfying since I'm not really hungry, I just want chocolate. If I want something a little more, I'll half dip strawberries in dark chocolate and put them in the fridge to let them set.

As a quick-fix I like partially thawed out frozen blueberries, some diced canned peaches (without the juice but cooked in it's own juice rather than in a syrup), some sliced banana, and some low fat yoghurt. SOMETIMES as a special treat a few dark chocolate chips, or grated dark chocolate, can make it a bit more decadent and give that little bit of 'specialness' to it.
Sometimes eating fruit after a meal is enough for me. Especially with some nutella, if I can manage not to go overboard.
Otherwise, try baking yourself instead of buying storebought brands, so you know what goes into it. There's a lot of ways you can health-ify recipes, a google search will bring up loads. You can use applesauce instead of fat in recipes, sometimes banana instead of sugar, you can make cookies that are basically just peanut butter, you can make chocolate mousse with avocados, etc.
It's mostly all about portion size/control.

1 1/2 cups of rice krispies 4 tablespoons peanutbutter 1 tablespoon honey 1 package of sugar free / fat free pudding prepared w/ 2 cups of skim milk
combine peanutbutter and honey in a small bowl and microwave for appx 45 seconds. add it to the rice krispies and mix well press mixture into a pie plate to make a crust
make pudding according to the package directions pour over crust
serving size is 1/4 of the pie
1 serving 225 calories 8.2g of fat 24 carbs 8g of protein

I know what you mean. I always need dessert... Cut banana in 3 chunks, put some honey on each and roll in toasted sweetened coconut. Put a craft wooden stick in each. Freeze. For skne weird reason, it does taste like ice cream. I also make tiny fudge ice pops in a molds (from a dollar store). They are small, each is maybe 35 cal. You need: 2 TB chocolate chips 1/3 cup of sugar 1 TB starch 1 1/2 TB cocoa powder 1 1/4 C Milk pinch of salt 1/2 tsp vanilla 1/2 TB butter Melt chips in microwave on very low setting. Mix milk with starch, sugar, salt, cocoa. Add melted chocolate. Heat in a pot on a stove, low heat until just starts boiling and thickens. Cook for 10 min and pour in molds. Freeze. These are my lifesavers, I am a sugar addict and these treats together with only keeping 85% chocolate at home save me.

For the past 3 weeks i have been doing well with my eating habits and routine workouts, but something is still missing. After dinner i seem to have dessert cravings, and i cant figure out what dessert i can eat without feeling guilty afterwards; any suggestions?
