I am taking 1200 cal. for 2 weeks (today is day 12) and then I will increase it to 1400 cal for 2 weeks more. After that, I plan to decrease it around 16 cal/day per each 1/2 pound (3 kg) I lost (updating every week), (Rosemary Conley's allowance chart).

You may find that increasing your calorie intake helps you make even more progress!! It helps you get more nutrients, first of all, like vitamins and minerals (think potassium) that are central to your health, plus the extra energy also helps keep you focused and energized at the gym. Also, eating too little DOES have a negative impact on your metabolic rate. Your body will hold onto the fat more vigorously especially if it is prolonged. I upper my calories from 1200 to 1500 and have seem more weight loss! Crazy stuff.

So, point being, try the new range and see how it works for you. You may find it is much better.

I have always read that you should eat 1200 - 1500 calories daily, otherwise you are starving yourself and you will not be able to increase your caloric intake later.

My daily calorie goal is the highest amount I can eat. Why would anyone want to eat only 1000 calories?

My goal is 1200-1500/day, I was hitting about 550-650 every day. I wasn't hungry, I wasn't fatigue, but I was concerned. I talked to my trainer, she said that if I don't get the nutrients, every workout I do will start burning away my muscles rather than replacing my fat with muscle. She suggested 1200 calories but will give me to 1500. My best friend is a nutritionist and she supported my trainer 100% and was concerned at my low-calorie intake. I suggest you stay with this range to avoid injury and/or poor nutrition. While you think you're cutting calories to be healthier, you're actually doing just as much damage as if you had too many calories.

It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change.

Sparkpeople does not allow for goals less than 1200 calories. The minimum safety range here is for 1200-1550 per day. There are no ranges lower than that. It is very difficult to adequately fuel your body with the nutrition it needs for less than 1200 calories per day.

What is your goal weight, current weight, target weight loss per week, and goal date?

My daily calorie goals were 1000-1200 per day. Now they're up, I'm guessing because I set a goal weight and date. I want the 1000-1200 back, that was working fine for me. How do I accomplish this?
