And don't assume that you'll have withdrawal! I've given up sugar multiple times. One time I was kind of cranky the first day and one time I had some cravings for cake after a few days, but frankly the cravings and crankiness weren't any worse than I get when I'm *not* committed to avoiding sugar. Most times the only challenge is remembering not to accept the candy sample at Costco, or trying to figure out how to politely decline a gift.
I think the key is to supply yourself with lots of foods you like that just happen to be "clean." Stock up on fruit that you don't normally buy because it's "too expensive," and plan special desserts you can have that just happen to be free of refined sugar. If you give yourself something to look forward to, you won't miss the junk.
