one large chicken breast without the skin has 165 mg of saturated fat. one large chicken breast with the skin has 184 mg of saturated fat. one large steak contains 223 mg of saturated fat. a half fillet of sock eye salmon has 123 mg of saturated fat.
In general, if you want to decrease the amount of cholesterol you eat, watch how much meat you eat. You do have to be careful with fish, BUT fish contain omega 3s and other fatty acids which are extremely good for you even if the cholesterol is a bit high.
It's all about BALANCE. You can eat meat and still be healthy, you just need to be mindful of your portion sizes. However, if your doctor has told you that you need to lower your cholesterol, then start by eating less meat and eating more veggies.
