I had very low iron at one stage and it made me want to sleep all the time - no problem sleeping at night and slept much of the day, too!

One thing I learned is that I have very low iron. I did not know that it affects my sleeping habits. I have to nap during the day to make up the time I miss at night.

I take online and on campus classes full time and as I am fortunate enough to not have to work I do take care of the house with chores and things like that. I am however a boarder-line insomniac. It is really hard for me to just lay down and fall asleep. Its something that I have been working on with my doctor. I try and make myself lay down around 11pm every night, even though I am not tired and I tuck everything away. No tv, books, phone, computer, ipad, nothing. To be honest its hard because I lay there in the dark listening to my husband lightly snore and my mind it going a mile a minute, it wont shut off. I have really bad anxiety so I can understand why its hard to just lay down. I typically don't fall asleep until about 3 or 4 in the morning and then I have to wake up at 8 or so to do school work and keep the house.

I find it best to write out your whole schedule and try to stick with it. Try and go to bed at the same time every night and don't let yourself get distracted.

My doctor wants me to go do a sleep study and has given me Ambian to help me sleep. I don't take it often because I don't want to come to rely on it to sleep but every once in a while its nice to get a full night rest. (also, I don't do anything crazy on the drug like most people say they do, if you take it properly the craziness doesn't happen.)

Ok, that's enough of my rant, longer then I expected.

Thanx for that, I cut out the high-sugary and sports drinks months and months ago, unfortunately i've picked up other unhealthy quick habits after eventually weening myself of that one. I do drink chamomile and peppermint tea's in fact i think of those and green as my life saver, I was addicted to a certain drug years back and I found out about chamomile then the Sleepy Time Tea i drink them almost ritualistically ever since.
Before that I would listen to some music, some oldies or some swing or some blues or some r&b before laying down. Or read from a great book.
But I've had stress and unusual anxiety throughout my life, so going to ly down just to sleep like my close -friends and -family do doesn't work for me on just about any night.
I think online classes have screwed up my eating and resting routine.

How late into the night do you study ? What time do you go to bed ? One thing to try is going to bed at a decent hour. No TV or internet or checking cell phone messages. those are all distractions. If you want to get to sleep, you have to clear your mind and remove those distractions that will keep you up.

Do you drink any of those energy drinks ? if you're using those for a quick burst of energy when you start fatiguing, you've got to ween yourself off those. Drinking caffeine at night can keep a person up. Try having a cup of herbal tea like chamomile or peppermint. Both are very relaxing and could help you sleep better. drinking more water can help too.

Also, if you're having a lot of unusual stress and anxiety, that will keep a person from sleeping too. What do you do to relax ? I know you're a busy student, but you do need to set aside time to relax so that you aren't stressed out.

due to my schedule, I only sleep 4-5 hours a night. It is not humanly possible for me to sleep more without pretty much getting a new career. I've been on this schedule since 2006, with a period of a few months in 2010, when my son was a newborn, where I slept even less a night.

I do nap every afternoon for 1-3 hours.

Some people will talk about how you can't lose weight without proper sleep, how you're not functioning properly, etc. but I have personally not found this to be true at all.

You sound like my daughter. You MUST sleep! That needs to be a priority because lack of sleep causes all kinds of health problems then you won't be able to do any of the other.

I have to have background noise. I play Pandora or listen to videos while I sleep (using headphones so it doesn't disturb my husband.

You sound like you are pretty busy, so it can be difficult to get that sleep, BUT you CAN do it. I would be inclined to make a list of all that you do and then cross off some that won't cause the sky to fall in if you don't do them. Where it comes to meal prep, if you bulk cook 2-3 days' worth at a time (or even more and freeze them) then it will give you more time for you - time to relax or time for sleep!

I've been doing chores around the house and internet classes. I've been prepairing to move in to a new home. I'm missed so many hours sleep i dont know if my body knows it any more. Can any one in the
Online Students Working Full Time sp-community help me or anybody at all???
