Lots of work for me ... involves clean-up, mostly. [Hate that part, and procrastinate doing so. I WILL GET NO MAID IN MY HOME.]

I do not heavily spice my food or prepare recipes "to taste" out of some gourmet playbook.

Preparing my own food, which I'll do for the most part ... is a matter of heath vs. descending into further sickness ... it is URGENT ...

Oh, I'm much too lazy than to actually prepare them myself. I guess you could take some cilantro and put it in your bullet or blender and then freeze it, but I buy the little packs of frozen herbs called "Top Its" and they are little 1 teaspoon squares of frozen herbs of many varieties. I find them in a little freezer in the produce section of the grocery store. They may be a Canadian product, so not sure if they're available everywhere or not. I just love them!

Hawk -- tell me about how you do frozen cubes of herbs like cilantro? I love it, but buy it fresh and it often starts to go bad before I can use it all. Ginger is easy because I can buy it in jars, but cilantro in tubes or dried is just blech.

Do you like seafood?

My go to meals lately have been my own, healthy, low sodium version of frozen entrees. I will take a bag of mixed frozen veggies (change this up all the time), add some frozen pre-cooked seafood like shrimp and toss in a couple of those frozen cubes of herbs such as ginger or cilantro, some hot red pepper flakes and I have a nice meal that takes a total of less than 10 minutes to assemble and heat in the microwave. I will do this daily for lunch at work and vary it a bit in a stir fry pan at home. I have also added, honey, peanut butter and other hot sauces to experiement with flavour - play around with the combinations of sauces and herbs that you like. I'm not a huge fan of raw veggies, so this is my version of a salad with grilled chicken. Some people may feel the need to add a pasta or rice, but if you keep some cooked brown rice, quinoa, ww couscous in the fridge, you can still have your grain and a whole, balanced meal in a blink.

Spices can be the bridge between plain chicken breasts and the complicated recipes. It's as easy to throw a good spice mix on meat as it is to use salt and pepper.

Two words: crock pot

I have yet to find a good crock pot recipe that takes more than about 20 minutes of prep. Meat, raw veggies, and some kind of liquid go in, crock pot goes on, 8 hours later good food comes out. I've done stews, pot roasts, even roasted a turkey breast in mine. The original "set it and forget it" machine.

I like food. I really enjoy interesting veggie dishes, complicated stews, curries, soups, etc. But fixing these can take a LOT of energy, and I have yet to figure out where to put frozen containers in my little side by side freezer (where I also keep frozen veg, butter, bread, and meats bought on sale, not to mention my daughter's ice cream and my frozen fruit bars!).

I really don't have any interest in bothering to eat plain chicken breasts with salsa, or a hunk o steak. I'll eat it if I'm hungry enough, but not for pleasure.

So I go through phases where I cook alot, more than I need for the day, of food I enjoy. And then eat it for every dinner for a week, while I also cook plain, boring meat and pasta for hubby and kids.

But I am definitely hitting a brick wall. Having smoothies for meals, or hummus and carrots... or not bothering to eat a meal at all, but just making sure the kids are fed (hubby often fends for himself).
