I was 54 when I joined SparkPeople and 56 when I came back and started my Spark Program, starting with Stage One. This is a one day at a time program, but if you do the SparkPeople Program Steps, it really does work. I am terribly average, it's the SP program that is extraordinary.
I found logging my foods in the Nutrition Tracker helped me to lose 90 lbs in 16 months! I started at 210 and went to 120. I am 5'1.5" short, lol.
I hung clothing that was too small on my closet door and every time I would get discouraged I would try them on. Week by week they started fitting! That kept me motivated.
Welcome aboard, we really are all in the same boat! Sometimes we can sail right along but sometimes we have to be rowing like crazy!

Congratulations on being in remission...that's great! Wow, a mile walk...woohoo! Good for you! To get yourself familiar with the sparkpeople site, go to your start page and on the top right corner you will see a tab "how to use this site" click on that and once you're done going through those steps, which will help you navigate the site, you can add teams (that hold similar interests), add friends and post on your team threads or here on the message boards.

I'm new. My daughter talked me into this. I have lung cancer and am in remission. I became depressed. I gained 30lbs. I became reclusive. I stay in my room most of the time. Sooo..It is time for a change. This seems to give me a plan I can follow. Baby steps..lol Yesterday I walked a mile.
