I really like the volunteering at the local animal shelter and the high school gym (one is right across the street!). Thanks everyone.

if there is a high school gym near that's open, hit the bleachers! I love to run bleachers (or walk them). I go in the YMCA basketball gym when the kids are practicing; the coach doesn't mind. I also slip through the gap in the fence and run the stadium bleachers (outside).

of course I did this on is THURSDAY and I'm still feeling it!

Ice skating. You can probably find some used skates online, just disinfect.

Volunteer to walk the dogs at your local animal shelter. The dogs will keep you entertained and you will be providing a valuable and enriching service.

You could also shovel snow to make a few bucks AND burn a lot of calories!

You don't have to eat the whole thing.

Our local rec department offers cross country skiing at the local golf course, they rent skis very cheep, of course it isn't free.
If you have kids taking them sledding it's crazy good exercise. I've also taken to shoveling instead of using the snow blower, of course you have to have fresh snow for that.

I'm looking for new ideas for outside exercise in winter. My problems are that I'm broke, I'm tired of walking, can't run, and am dealing with a cold northern winter. Any ideas on what I can do?
