I've been doing so well the last several months watching what I eat and working out, and at long last I can see the results of my hard work. So, I was HUGELY deflated yesterday when I got on the scale to see a 4 pound increase. Granted, it was evening time and I normally see an increase in the number, by generally 2 pounds, but not normally 4 and it has me wondering if it was the alcohol I had over the weekend.
I am not a drinker. It's a rare occasion when I do, but I am going to Vegas next week and my friend brought over some beers and whiskey to have a pre-Vegas weekend. I had 2 beers and 2 shots and counted them in my daily intake. They put me a little bit over my goal for the day, but I wasn't too concerned because I am almost never over so one day isn't going to undo everything. Or did it???
I know the body metabolizes alcohol first which means it can't metabolize anything else, but I really thought 2 days later, I would be fine. I am not normally a slave to the scale, I get on it once maybe twice a week just to keep myself in check, but I don't normally see a 4 pound gain. I know it seems a bit obsessive, but I have worked soooooo hard and now I am terrified to weigh in this weekend fearing I will see a gain. The other fear is my trip to Vegas. I hadn't planned to be stinking drunk the whole week, but it's my best friends first time going and there's a group of 14 others going as well. Obviously, I had planned to have a few drinks, but now I am terrified to do that.
Anyone have any great words of wisdom here?
