thanks a lot--i'm still figuring out timing and whatnot regarding when to eat and exercise (was my first day back on the wagon)--i was afraid it was me actually drinking lots of water and eating healthy (excepting the twix) and too much water imbalanced me somehow. I'll keep playing around with it. nice to know i'm not alone and i'll try the gum trick and see if that works, too.

I get this too. One thing that helps a lot is to chew gum if you can safely do it while exersising. I don't know why it works for me, but it knocks back the reflux even better than an antiacid.

I would definitely try to eat something that is not prone to causing acid reflux before working out, not chocolate or sweets or acidic fruits. Maybe try a little peanut butter on whole wheat toast.

This happens to me if I drink too much coffee. Coffee is high in acid.

As a fellow acid reflux sufferer, I feel your pain.

I'd say it was a combination of an empty stomach (except the chocolate bar, which is on the list of stuff that can make it flare up); the coffee, and the movement of exercise. I cannot under any circumstances work out on an empty stomach. It either makes my belly hurt or I get the shakes from low blood sugar/exhaustion.

Caffeine, alcohol, spicy food, greasy food, and acidic foods are all common causes. You have to figure out which are your triggers, and where your "stop here" point is. I wouldn't mess with this---it can become a serious long-term ailment that takes a lot of time to clear up.

I had a twix before that, I left my fruit at home and didn't want to eat too much, but felt kinda tired and wanted some sugar.

Did you eat anything beforehand? I've found that I get acid reflux when I don't eat anything. IT doesn't have to be much

This has happened before (a long time ago when I tried exercising and let it slide), but I definitely noticed it today. I was drinking my water a lot today (and a vitamin water early in the morning) and finished coffee before 8am, so I don't think it was that. I didn't do any moves where I had to lay down, but suddenly while working out on the treadmill and then the weights, I got that burning feeling like acid reflux creeping up. I can't think of anything I ate that would result in that, but I can't figure why during exercise today the acid reflux feeling came with a vengeance. I pushed through it, determined not to derail myself, and figured it was just the hungries. Well, just got done eating thirty minutes ago and I've still got the feeling (though now i'm wondering if I should've skipped the yogurt strawberry banana smoothie I had when I sat down, but I was trying to quickly get a little carbs and protein)

has this happened to anybody else and what did you do about it? its strange that its getting exacerbated by exercise, and worrying to me.
