I also advise of this too! I made a You Tube playlist for some of my favorite songs from class that I found videos for, and actually sent that playlist to a few friends who wanted to try it out with me sometime. That way, it gave them an idea of what to look for.
If you do have any easy time following along, it is easier. But, it's fun and they say as long as you're moving your body... that is what matters!

At least 90% of the participants don't know what they're doing, right? No need to be intimidated.
I am a Zumba instructor, and trust me, you need no prior dance experience. I didn't really have any and I just followed along best i could. MOST instructors make their routines easy to follow. I set mine up easy so that people who have never danced before can follow it. Go try it. I burn usually 800-1000 calories in my classes. Good luck and just remember to go and have fun. No one is looking at you and analyzing you. We just want you move and have fun.

If you like to dance you will LOVE ZUMBA. At home with a DVD. Well want to go to a live class and dance, dance, dance!
I started going to Zumba regularly 3 times a week starting in June. I had gone to the class with a friend a few weeks prior, and had a pretty easy time following along with the instructor. I had done video games like Just Dance! and felt that was pretty easy, so this was similar since you follow along with the screen - how different could that be with an instructor!? I love it now.
Don't feel intimated. Honestly, in my class, we have mirrors on every wall and I am usually watching what I am doing than seeing what everyone else is doing in the class. And being a new person, I would recommend NOT standing in the back of the class, since you have a harder time seeing the instructor if the class is full. You obviously don't have to be up front, but somewhere in the middle can help you see better and catch on quicker.
I think you can burn anywhere between 300-600 calories in an hour sessions, and the time goes by SO fast! Have fun, it's a blast!
Since I loved Body Pump I want to take a Cardio class that was fun! There is a Zumba class at my gym but I must admit I am a little intimidated. I am not a professional dancer by any means and am nervous I will look silly trying to dance. Are the moves super hard? What should I expect? How many calories does it burn?
