Sounds obvious, but #1. planning ahead and #2. making choices (rather than indulging in it all). For example, I have two Xmas parties to attend today, so I'm eating light in the morning. At the parties, I'll pick a couple of favorites and eat smaller portions of each. I'll drink water(or diet soda) rather than alcohol. And, finally, #3. get right back on track after enjoying holiday parties/treats, etc.

Drink your water specifically 2 glasses before any meal, wait 10 minutes and then eat. It has always worked for me!

I think portion control is key, and talking to those who have been successful at weight loss over the Holidays and or maintained their weight over the Holidays, that seems to be key.
My favorite tip by far is to make sure to eat a healthy snack or meal before going to any holiday dinners/parties. I used that for Thanksgiving and I will be doing that for my work party tomorrow.
If I am not super hungry, I can just eat a small amount, so I won't feel deprived, but I can say no to desserts, big portions and seconds. And since I am eating, no one gives me the comment "WHAT?! You aren't eating?!" LOL Good luck everyone, and check out our team if you want additional tips or have anything to share!
My strategy is everything in moderation. I also set a goal to maintain over the actual days of the holiday when I know there will be lots of food. I still want to enjoy the holidays, so I don't want to feel deprived. If I can maintain my weight over the holidays, I am quite happy with that.

Reminding myself all the reasons that living life at goal weight is very, very important to me. Reminding myself that I have lost weight at holiday time before - especially in 2008. Eating very carefully (high fiber,enough protein,lots of water and freggies) between parties and occasions. Don't go to event hungry. Choose only the very best splurges in small amounts. Remember it is a holiDAY not a holimonth!!
