I could care less if anyone looks at me. I run/jog. I do Zumba , and now bootcamp. And I am just proud of myself for taking care of me.. People will always talk, no matter what. The important thing as that you exercise YOUR body... Good Luck

The people who you think are watching will sometimes, be the same ones who will notice your weight change. We are internally self-conscious and a lot of times, "think" people are watching or talking about us, when they are in their own world!
I don't care if people see me running........I am doing it for me not them.

I totally agree with your husband!!
I'm a hardcore exerciser (triathlete, marathon runner, etc) so when I go to the gym I am pretty much clueless as to my surroundings I am so focused on my workout. I always laugh to myself when people come up to me and tell me how inspiring it is that they see me at the gym all the time because I swear I don't recognize most of the people at my gym and I've been going there 6 days a week for almost 5 years. However, when I am out running I do pay more attention to others but that's more for safety reasons.
Yea, whenever I hear people say they don't like to go to the gym because they feel like everyone is watching them I tell them to stand in front of all the machines and look at what people are looking at. I guarantee they are either looking at a book, magazine, phone, or a TV. You will not see anyone looking at another person.
I am the same way about exercising in front of people right now with all this extra weight on me BUT, and as my triathlete husband says, everyone else is into their own thing so most don't notice what others are doing. He's right, of course. Also, I happen to be one of those silently encouraging folks too when I see people out in this Texas heat running or walking. You can do it so go out there an make it happen!! Happy running trails to you!
