WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. I have so much experience with yoyo dieting. I'm really fighting it this time by NOT dieting but instead focusing on healthy eating and lots of activity.
Losing weight can be scary. I've been plateaued for about a year now because something is freaking me out about getting lower. But instead of being down on myself, treating myself badly, and then yoyoing back up, I'm being kind to myself this time around, continuing to eat healthy and working out. I am maintaining a 20% weight loss for over a year, and that's HUGE. I'm trying to focus on how far I've come, instead of beating myself up for how far I have left to go.
Be kind to yourself. You deserve it.

HANLBU, After reading your post -- I will agree with you I have been there too! I have been on this site off and on and I have done quite well for most of the time. However, when I get to a point of losing so much weight; I usually leave this site and venture out on my own and that is where I FAIL! I usually go back to my old eating habits and gain back all my weight--- BUT NOT THIS TIME! I have been on this site since Jan 23rd and I have already lost 42 pounds. This time I do not plan on leaving and plan to stick with Sparkspeople. Who do I owe this success too? I would have to say my attitude! I have it planned in my head to keep with it and do what ever it takes to get down to my old weight. If you are able-- go on my Sparkpage and see the transformation. Well hello there. One month ago I was happy about having lost 8 pounds for my wedding. Now, not only have I gained again those 8 pounds but added 6 more. Why, you ask me? well, as for sure many of you have experienced, I am a victim of Yo-yo dieting. I find myself avoiding some foods and exercising regularly during a couple of months and, as soon as I see results, instead of keeping up the good work I go back to my old habits and even indulge into some serious Binge eating. It is not until I feel my pants really tight and the fat accumulating around my belly area that I realize that I have to get something done. Anyway, here I am, starting all over again. Promising myself not to have to go through this again...
