Same as my strategy has been, consistently, for the last 10 months...
"If i didn't plan it... I don't eat it."
If I know we are going to have a particular "event" (staff party, pot luck lunch) then I will make plans to deal with the specific occassion. But there's only one or two holiday events like this. The rest of the holiday food is an endless parade of "treats" that just happen to appear in the lunch room... and I will have none, zero, zip, nada.
I find it much to stressful to have to think-through a decision-making process every time something randomly arrives in the lunch room - "could i? should i? what about just a half-piece? what about if i just eat less at dinner?" Nope, that's just too much mental energy, that just puts me in a constant state of combat with food, a constant battle of will. It doesn't serve me well, so, I just say no to all of it, case closed. And oddly enough, I really never feel "deprived." Why? Well perhaps because I allow for the possibility of PLANNING a treat for the next day. SO i'm not actually saying flat-out- "no" to the tempting foods, just "no, not right now/not today." I will have these treats on MY terms on MY schedule.

I am picky about what I eat and whose food I will eat. I don't care for social gatherings where there is food, mostly if there are a lot of people. I would only take a couple of items to eat.
I usually bring in or eat before my shift food that is healthy and then eat an occasional snack depending what's there. When I bring food, I try to make something that's fun and healthy so there aren't just sweets on the table.

People in my office are really good and we try to be helpful to each other. However, an occasional treat will come in. At those times I imagine my "no thank you" tray and see what all is on there by the end of the day.
Eat veggies first and try to get full so I won't get too many snacks.

I don't eat most of the office fare because it's not usually vegan-friendly. There is one other vegan in the office who occasionally brings really nice baked goods, so I know I will indulge a bit. I'll just up the workout intensity to compensate. ;)
I don't go to an external office anymore and haven't for most of my later career, which has been in the field and working out of my home office, where it was sometimes still an issue in earlier years, but I kind of got past that somehow.
But when I DID do the daily office thing, I had trouble with overeating every season until I put my foot down and absolutely forbid my inner child to eat ANYTHING in the office at all, other than sometimes lunch while writing, but I brought my lunches with me.
A just say no attitude was the only thing that worked for me.
I want to lose weight the way I intend to live the rest of my life. I'm not going to deny myself holiday food for the rest of my life, so I won't deny myself holiday food while I'm trying to lose weight. I will have have small portions of special foods and count the calories....only if the food tastes amazing; otherwise I'll toss it. Oh yeah and I'll drink a ton of water and keep my exercise up.

I'll only have treats that are new/different or not served any other time of the year. So chocolate chip cookies will not make the cut, but I will indulge in a truffle or 2. The one thing that my office does that kind of annoys me is that they give us each (and +1 !) a kilo (2 pounds!) of truffles at the formal holiday party. I got rid of them last year by just bringing them to the next holiday potluck I went to.

I'm just going to avoid our kitchen.
Actually, my motto this year is one treat a day, but no more. I really have to stick with this since we get tons of goody's from our vendors and clients. Last year we did get a fruit basket and a meat and cheese tray so I'll eat those instead.
Neither my husband nor I have an office to go to since we work from home, so that leaves my cooking to deal with, and we already have enough of a hard time doing that! However, I do try to tone it down during the holidays with the treats. It's so hard when you shop and it's in your face. Now that you are reminding me, I'll try to find some lower-cal goodies to make or ones with Splenda instead.
Keep a sense of humor. Remember, laughing burns calories too!
Laugh until it hurts! It's one of the few things in life that's still free!!
Any effort is better than no effort!
