I always burn more calories that I have set up with sparks. I am so ok with that. My original yearly goal is 3,840 minutes and I have done already this year 4,647. I do know I should change it but..................

I tend to burn more calories than my goal. I find it a reward to my ego. I don't typically adjust my callories on sp but I sometimes adjust my food intake a bit if this is the case and track it on my own.

RAHSGIRL1099 it doesn't do it from exercise that you track.

You need to make sure the "goal calories" for exercise is accurate. If it's not accurate, manually set it.

I am for a workout 5x a week. I average about 350-400 calories burned per workout.

I want to give myself a goal I can reach so I wouldn't have a goal for more than 400x5 as my calories burned. You can play with the numbers over a couple of weeks and compare you goal to what you are actually burning. If you consistently burn more/less then adjust your goal.

Once you adjust to a certain exercise you might not burn as many calories as when you first started. Or you might use the elliptical instead of the treadmill so your calorie burn might be higher, even though your minutes spent exercising are the same.

If I happen to get an extra workout in, or I spend a few extra minutes working out and go over my calorie count I don't worry about it until it becomes consistent or I feel I am ready for more.

So when I input my calories burned with exercise, does it adjust my calories on its own? I dont want to be over eating.

Yes, generally speaking.

The site sets a lower limit for women of 1200-1550. If your needs came out mathematically to 900 calories you'd get 1200-1550. Adding 300 calories of exercise every single day would seem to be a phenominal addition, but it still adds up to only 1200, so you wouldn't see a shift.

If you do have a food goal that doesn't respond to changes in exercise level, then your weight loss goal is probably too rapid for you. Not everyone can lose 2lb/week.

So the more calories you burn exercising will change your calorie allowance?

Always keep the "calories to burn" figure realistically close to what you're actually burning. That figure is used to calculate your food needs, not exercise that you tracked, so it needs to be accurate.

You can update that figure on the Fitness Goals page.

My advice would be to set your calories burned goal to reflect the amount of exercise you're doing, instead of the other way around. That way it's an accurate reflection of the amount of exercise you are able to and want to be doing.

I usually schedule my workouts to meet my goals. If I happen to get a little more, that's okay. Like this week, I got a walk in that was unscheduled. However, I make sure I take days off so that my body can repair. In the past, I have pushed myself to get as many exercise minutes as possible, and ended up with injuries.

So if you work out upto the calories you need to burn for that week, do you work out more or take it easy for the rest of the week? How many calories do you aim to burn??
