WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Hi there, my name is Olivia and I'm working on losing weight.
I've been overweight since i was about 12 or 13 and i'm now 26. I haven't been happy with my body since i was in highschool and it has caused me to have such low self-esteem. I started trying to lose weight again this year after some failed attempts to lose weight over the last couple of years... In the past I would start changing my diet, cutting out everything i thought was unhealthy and exersizing, going hard out and then i would burn out, binge eat and basically crash off of my diet. Then i would feel so guilty that i would eat more and more... I love sweet food and takeaways, particularly chocolate, bread, deep fried food. Changing my eating habits is still a work in progress...
So i decided to take a slightly different approach than what i've tried before and go easier on myself, making slower changes to what i eat, not beating myself up if i do binge, actually making meals in advance and planning ahead and also working in exersize as much as possible in a way that fits my life-style. I got into walking on and off a few months ago and now i'm walking almost every day and the more i've done it, the more i've wanted to.
I also tried saying positive affirmations to myself like; "I can do this", "I'm worth the effort", "I CAN do all things through Christ who gives me strength and energy and power"...etc. which has really helped me with motivation and positive thinking.
I decided that this is going to be a LONG-TERM change, which means i have no excuses if i fail one day, then i can't give up because this is for the long run. I'm also trying not to put limits on myself, get as much helpful and positive motivation as i can and pray for motivation. When i started tracking my food and exersize on spark people this year i was around 176 pounds and now I am currently around 163 pounds...(In NZ we go by kg more so i was between 78-80kg and now i'm around 72-73kg) My goal weight is between 60-65kg or (135-140 pounds) which is the healthy range for my height (168m).
