I like the Gold's Gym Dance Workout. It mixes dance routines with cardio boxing and mini games (like swordfighting and jumping rope). You can select individual songs/games or use the personal trainer (which I really like). The personal trainer uses your preferences to design a different routine each day. It also gives you the total calories burned, which is nice.

I don't know if this has been answered before, but I couldn't find it. I use Wii Just Dance 2 and I am on 6 dance a day, I also use Tony Horton's Ten Minute trainer for Abs and lower body. Does anybody know how many calories are burned using these programs? Also I have Zumba Dance - not my fav, but calories for this one would be helpful also! Thanks!

Heidi, that's why I prefer the Active Sports 2 and Wii Fit Plus games over the other ones. Those games provide calories burned.

How do you log your fitness on SP when you work out to Just Dance on the Wii? I've been doing it daily for 30 minutes (just starting up and exercise routine again and it's a good way to start as I love it), but I'm not sure how to log it here on SP.
I know I've got to head back to the gym too, but I'll be honest, with all the people getting back to the gym in the New Year, I hate to go. It's always so crowded. I figured I'd wait until Feb to really start hitting the gym. :)

Thanks everyone for all of the information. i just purchased Wii Just Dance 2 on Amazon for 25.49 with free shipping. I'll add Wii Zumba next month and keep going from there if I find I'm using the games.

I am going to run out and get the Biggest Loser tomorrow. I'll let you know! Thanks.
I definately like the Wii because I bought it for my teenage daughter and it was a sneaky way for me to get her to exercise without knowing it. She just thinks it's fun and logged 2 hours in the other day doing the Just Dance 2. I think that if you don't exercise at all or even if you do - it's a fun way to get in fitness, and I agree that it's definately burning more calories than sitting on the couch!

Nope you only need a controller and the console.

MVISGAK - I don't know about Zumba but for Just Dance 2 you only need the console/remote.
My husband just got me a Wii for Christmas and I love it!! I got Just Dance 2 and it is so much fun, it doesn't feel like work at all even though I am sweating after every song. I do it in addition to my elliptical and strength training workouts and I feel like it is just burning extra calories that I would be storing up by sitting on the couch. Every little bit of movement helps I figure.

I got the Active Sports 2 game for Christmas. I'm 1.5 weeks into the 9-week program. Both my husband and I have had to put it on the "easy" level. My husband started his on "hard" and almost killed himself. I started on "medium" and was yelling at the trainer on the TV! "Easy" is still quite hard (for us at least), it's just fewer reps.
I may have to pickup the Zumba game after reading this topic. I'll probably wait until after I complete the 9-week program on Active Sports 2 though.
I've got a foot problem (plantar fasciitis - ugh) going on, so I'm using the Wii to keep moving without having to 'step' or move my feet. Hula hoop, the numbers game, even the 'chicken flight' (lol) are all non-walking Wii programs. I can stand as long as I don't have to step or walk in some fashion. :-)

My DH got me a Wii system for Christmas. I picked out the Just Dance2 game because I like fast paced music. Is it safe for someone very overweight to use or just limit myself to 15 minutes until I become accustomed to the games? I don't want to overdo it but it is very fun! I LOVE the boxing and the bowling and the superhula hoop along with the Just Dance2 game. It definitely gets you sweating!
40BY4TY~ The Biggest Loser game can be played either with the balance board OR without. I actually find it easier to play without.

I love the Just Dance 2. I just bought it for my daughter and it's a lot of fun and a workout. Does anyone have the Biggest Loser game and can you tell me if it needs the Wii Balance Board to be used or can you use it without it?
Just Dance 2 is awesome (a nice improvement over its predecessor). I love the fact that you can add new songs on the fly, but my only complaint is that they cost 300 Wii Points, which equals $3. That's a lot for a song, esp compared to a typical iTunes download. But I still recommend the game, hands down!
Just Dance....Just Dance 2....Just Dance Kids (if you have them)...and Zumba Fitness (this comes with the belt to hold the controller) LOVE them all!! And your burning LOTS of calories and you don't even feel like you're working out!

Just Dance 2. I got this for xmas and LOVE it! It is so much fun and a great work out at the same time. There are also many more songs than on the first version. Plus you can download more songs if you want. Also I use Personal Trainer. Love it! You can set different goals and it creates meal plans and workouts designed around your goals

Wii Fit is of course great but I got Zumba for Christmas and IT IS AWESOME!!! I picked it up at Best Buy for $39.99 which is the best price I've seen and it came with the belt as a bundle package.

I kept seeing the Zumba game while I was out shopping for Christmas gifts and it looked interesting. After reading comments here I think I need to go and pick it up. I have the Wii Fit Plus and just got the EA Active 2 for Christmas. I don't like the resistance bands, so I think I am going to try just using weights.
I have DDR too. Just Dance is way more fun, IMHO. DDR is a good workout, though.

I got DDR for Christmas (wasn't on my wish list) and I'm afraid, it's not really my thing. I love to DANCE. I find this game is just alot of hopping and jumping. Lots of people love it though. What I think Id really enjoy from the sounds of it, would be Just Dance or Zumba. I have EA Active and Gold's Gym Boxing and find both to provide really good, efficient workouts once you know what you're doing.
Probably a stupid question, but I'm going to ask it anyway - do you need anything special for either Zumba or Just Dance 2 - anything other than the actual Wii console and Wii Motion Plus Control? Like a pad or something that you have to purchase additional to the game?
I was given a Wii and Wii Fit Plus for Christmas. It's been great for helping me get into a routine, which is my biggest roadblock. But after reading everyone's comments, I might have to check out Zumba and Just Dance!
I got Gold's Gym Cardio workout for Christmas, although have not tried it out yet. Hopefully this week we can get to it.

My Brother and Sister have been doing Just Dance and Just Dance 2 for about a year. They love it. I just recently started doing it with them and I'm really enjoying it. It appeals to all ages. I'm 39, my brother is 41 and my sister is 11 and we all enjoy it. It's funny to hear my sister walking around the house singing songs that are way older than she is!
My sister is very competitive so she and my brother go back and forth trying to beat each others scores. I'm much less competitive so I don't even use the controller. I seriously JUST DANCE!

Our Wii is mainly used by our kids, however, we got Just Dance 2 for the Wii for Christmas, and I have to say it is a great cardio workout. It's so much fun! I just played it today, and when I looked at the clock I had already been on it for 45 minutes! My heart was pumping, and I worked up a real sweat. It is a great way to add variety and fun to a workout routine. I like the idea of being able to purchase more songs, so it doesn't get boring. Now the kids are going to have to share the Wii with mom.

Ooooo - I'm all excited -- got the Wii and the Dance Revolution game for my son for Xmas -- can't wait to open them up and start playing with him -- feeling a little guilty, though -- I bought it for him, but I keep reading how much people love it and now I'm starting to feel it's my Xmas present, not his!!!

I have quite a few work out type games. I used The Biggest Loser to help me lose the last couple dozen pounds. Then I got bored with it. It is a good game, I just needed a change. I also have Dance Dance Revolution. It isn't bad, just didn't keep me interested too long. I then bought Your Shape, played it once and it was okay. Now for my gave games! I got Zumba Fitness the weekend it came out. What a great workout and I sometimes do it twice a day because it is that much fun! I sweat like no other with that one! We also got Just Dance 2 and that is a great game also. I have to fight the kids to play it everyday! I love it and it has some great songs. We also just got the Michael Jackson dance game yesterday... Don't work up as much of a sweat as the other games but it's a fun game! I played it for 3 hours today lol Hope that helped some.

My Fitness Coach is awesome and makes a great customizable workout.
For fun, Outdoor Challenge can get the blood pumping and is nice if you have kids or someone who wants to compete using games that get you moving around. It has a section where you can do short workouts that focus on various parts of the body.

I love Wii. Don't really use it that much for my main exercise, but it can get you active and can help a lot with an exercise program.
My Fitness Coach is a good, customizable workout program, if not loads of fun. It is, in my opinion, truly directed at down-to-business working out.
Wii Fit Plus has tons of fun and some good actual exercising can be had. The yoga is better than My Fitness Coach by far and, as flexibility and balance are weaknesses of mine, it serves a valuable purpose. You can do aerobic type things like the island run and cycling that are fun and have, imo, some beautiful graphics.
Just Dance is great, according to friends and family, type of software. I haven't personally tried it, but others here do it for hours. We own both and I often hear them laughing and dancing around into the middle of the night.
We just got Walk It Out, which is a walking program, because a lot of people seem to really like it. Haven't tried it out enough to give an educated opinion as of yet.

Love my EA Active, EA Active More Workouts and EA Active 2; all have excellent cardio/strength programs but the EA Active 2 comes with a HRM that is right on with my HRM and it ROCKS

I've heard about it. I read someones post about it on another thread & they gave it a great review. It looks like a lot of fun.
I want to get Just Dance 2. The adverts for that look awesome!
Thanks for the info - we just bought one for Christmas and while I like the Wii Fit Plus, it seems that I'm going to "outgrow" it fairly quickly. A friend is getting the Zumba game next week, so am looking forward to taking that for a test spin, too. Anyone already tried it out?

I bought a Wii last weekend. It came with the Wii Sports Resort pack, which has a lot of games included ie. tennis, boxing, golf etc. That has been good fun.
I ordered 2 games off ebay. EA Sports Active Personal Trainer & My Fitness Coach. Both have great reviews on the internet & appear to be alot more beneficial than Wii Fit.

I own Wii Fit Plus and EA Sports Active. They both have the capacity for custom workouts. Active has a 30-day program at easy, medium, and hard levels, but Wii Fit Plus is more DIY.

I just started using my wii a few days ago and I like wii fit free step and regular step and advanced step. They don't make me sweat too much. If you want more of a challenge, I have tried the dance dance revolution 2 and there is a 3 out with newer songs. It is good too. I have also been using outdoor challenge. I gives a really good workout. It is good to mix it up so you don't get too bored of one thing or so that you are not doing really strenuous exercise every day. I find it to be fun and you don't feel like you are exercising.
