First off, let me say I LOVE SPARKPEOPLE, and all the things Spark in general has to offer. From the web based interface to the Android app, it all comes together fairly well. (And if this has been mentioned before, please excuse my extra post, but I did search thoroughly before posting).
I do have one gripe with the Android app and hopefully it could be implemented in a future update :) WE NEED A WIDGET !!
I currently use a widget from the Android market called "Calorie Counter by FatSecret" to track my food intake and exercise.(I use it in conjunction with the Spark Diet & Calorie app. I enter my foods in both apps and it's a real pain, but you'll understand why in a minute.) At a glance the Calorie Counter by FatSecret widget shows me how many calories I've already entered today, how many calories I have left for the day in real numbers and a percentage.
For example: say I'm using a 1800 calorie per day goal. I enter my breakfast of 429 calories, ( entering foods is easy using a barcode scan, search, favorites etc..) On the widget it shows I've entered 429 calories so far today, which is 24% of calories I'm allowed today, so I have 1371 calories (76%) left for today. And all I need do is glance at the widget on my home screen & it instantly tells me where I'm at for the day. You can also track exercise/fitness and it tells you how much you have burned today as well.
This widget really helps keep me on track, because I can see in REAL numbers where I am at calorie wise for the day.
