People with physical handicaps who through sheer force of will and attitude refuse to let their limitations interfere with living full lives. And then I look at myself laying on the sofa, giving myself all kinds of excuses and I feel embarrassed.

My parents who have gone on to glory inspire me everyday. The opportunities I have in life and, my good eating habits are because of them. I live my life to honor them!

My daughter and I were talking about this last night.
I am not "inspired" by athletes, I don't see the point in running marathons etc. If you want to play sports, swim the Channel or run extreme marathons I can admire your dedication but it doesn't inspire me.
I admire people who are talented, who can paint, sing or create beauty in some way. I wish I had their talent and dedication but it doesn't inspire me.
Maybe because I know I can't/wont ever do those things?
I am not inspired by drug addicts, gang members or alcoholics who "get clean" and find . .Christ in prison. I always wonder why the preachers hold them as "inspiration" for the rest of us?
I am inspired by and do admire people like my grandmother. She married very young, at age 15 in 1930. She had 6 children and was widowed when the youngest was 2 yrs. She worked hard every day of her life, made sure her kids went to school and church, taught her children and grandchildren to be honest, hard working, Christ loving citizens. She cared for her family, her neighbors and her friends and community. She will be 98 tomorrow and is still going strong. Her sisters and brothers were just like her. She inspires to try and be my best, to live to her standards.
I am inspired by the person who cares for their disabled/ill/dying child, parent or friend. They sacrifice so much without giving it a thought Because it needs to be done and they can do it.
I am inspired by the people who get up and do what needs to be done without complaint, without crying, without asking "What's in it for me?" The foster parents, the volunteers, the neighbor who goes out of their way to help another neighbor.
One of the neatest things in my neighborhood is when it snows all of the able bodied folks get out the shovels, the snow blowers and the snow plows and clear not only their own driveways and sidewalks but will go up and down the street till every driveway and sidewalk is clear. My neighbors in their 80's never have to worry about it and all of us have benefitted. I've shoveled and cleared for others and then come home after a storm to a clear driveway!

I take inspiration in many different forms including my family, those less fortunate than I, and myself.

To be honest, I inspire myself. I have many weaknesses; but I almost always sacrifice time, effort, money, etc. for my immediate family. I put my children's and wife's needs and interests generally above my own. My happiness almost always occurs when my children and wife are happy.
I also inspire myself because I knew that I was at a crossroads where I was not exercising, I was eating far too much and too much unhealthy foods, and drinking too much beer; and I deliberately chose to live healthier and to exercise regularly. In my retirement it would have been very easy to have chosen a different path.

Sorry to hear about your special little angel. I am inspired by my family. No one certain. They all help me out. I have a 10 year old daughter and I want to do things with her, and be here for her. Your story inspired me :)
I have been told many times that I inspire people with my strength. It's not an easy thing to hear actually. Strength is an easy quality to have when given no other choice. I know who inspires me each and every day to get out of bed and live my life to the fullest. My daughter, Ila Jean. She is in heaven now. She fought stage IV Neuroblastoma from the time she was 18 months old until she was 7 and went home to heaven. I live life for her and gain my strength from her and all she went through. I can face anything without fear because of her.
This makes me wonder about everyone else. Who inspires you? I think having someone to inspire you can help you face each day in a new light. Please share.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
