I would say resistance bands for me. Yet I use weights for chest flies etc.

I agree with Archimedes push-ups are great for core. thank you Archimedes for your help with my weight-loss challenges over losing 9.5 pounds in a week.

Push ups are more effective than arm curls (bicep curls) because they work more muscle groups at the same time. When you do a push up, not only are you using your biceps, but you're using your chest, back, shoulder and core muscles to perform the action.
If you don't to do push ups, another good exercise to work your upper body (arms) would be bent over rows. Also very effective, more so than bicep curls.
Personally, I find bicep curls redundant and don't do them anymore.
However, given a choice, resistance bands or dumbells work as long as they provide a challenge. If you don't feel a fatigue with one heavy resistance band, then combine two or three together. Adding resistance bands together increases the challenge.

I like dumbbells better but I think both can be successful if used consistently.
Lay aside life-harming heaviness and entertain a cheerful disposition.

They're the same thing in that they both offer resistance/strength training. One is not better than the other and your body doesn't know the difference if you're getting strength training from a band or a dumbbell or a machine.

I use both resistance bands and dumbbells, for me the dumbbells seem to be working better than the bands for arm curls~
