I have an Omron (not sure of the model no. but I have had it for a couple of years) and it will work on the hip, or carried in a purse. Someone once told me they even clipped theirs to their bra. However, all that being said, it is more accurate clipped over the hip.

I think my problem is that I need to actually pay for a pedometer, the free and cheap ones are always not very helpful!

Your pedometer should be worn over your hip flexors, and be properly calibrated for the best, and most accurate reading.

I wear mine on my hip, which seems to work out well. Most pedometers will tell you in their instruction booklet where they will work from (for example, mine said hip, purse, or arm - anything that swayed while I walked), but I think hip is best because it's closest to the actual leg movement to gauge actual steps.

Enjoy it! I love having mine, its a great way to get an idea of how much you do or don't move when you're not working out.

In your house.

Ha ha. No, seriously, on your hip. You may have to experiment with it by walking along counting steps and checking several times to ensure you've got it in just the right place. I have found that with mine, if it's even slightly back or forward of the ideal 'sweet spot' it starts giving funky readings.

Clip it on, count 20 steps, and check. Move slightly if not exactly 20 on the meter. Retest.

Where is the best place to wear a pedometer to get the most accurate reading?
