Cardio and strength training are great. Abs are made in the kitchen. Took me a long time to understand this.

As others have said, you can't really control where your body stores your fat. Strength exercises for your core areas can help the appearance of your midsection by toning the muscles, but you're not really losing fat.
Check for digestive intolerances, though. Even if you've always been able to eat a particular food, your body can develop an intolerance as an adult which can cause bloating in the midsection.
In my case it was dairy, but there are other things it could be if it's a food intolerance issue.
My DD did the P90X work out with Tony Horton and had great results. His Power 90 Workout is easier to start with.

Unfortunately, there is no way to reduce fat from one just part of the body at a time. Fat comes off from our body in a way that is genetically determined. So you lose fat from places last where you put it on first. Taking care of your diet while strength training is the best way to lose inches.

I have the same problem and loose weight on my upper body but have a big belly, legs and bottom!

You can't choose where you lose fat. If you have the body type that carries more fat in your midsection, you will always have that body type. We all have our "problem areas" where our body likes to store our fat. The best you can do is lose fat and do full body strength training to lower your overall body fat percentage.

I'm really not that overweight..but very much out of shape. I am as of now 144 lbs. The biggest I ever got was 170. I have always had a very big waist. Measured last week at 39 inches. That way to big for my weight. I wanna loose 10 inches.. help!! whats the best exercise for loosing inches in the waist??
