Kale! One of the healthiest vegetables you can eat. You'll never know it's in there, just toss it in the blender like you do with the spinach.

Spinach, carrots, avocado, even romaine can all be really good in smoothies! For me it's all about a good flavor combination of fruits and veggies. I've found that mixing fruits and veggies of the same or at least similar colors helps- it at least looks way more appetizing.
Some good ones I've tried:
spinach, avocado, banana with a little plain light soymilk
spinach, romaine, kiwi, and apple juice (this one came out more like a thick juice than a regular smoothie consistency but it was still pretty good)
steamed carrot, banana, soymilk, and a little cinnamon
peach, raspberry, carrot, apple juice
and today I'm having strawberry, carrot, raspberry, and applesauce. it's wonderful. I've been thinking of trying some kind of squash as well, since they tend to be sweeter.
I almost always include a cup or 2 of spinach and the little frozen wholly guacamole avocado in my morning smoothies -- sometimes I ad cucumber; totally surprising how the cucumber overpowers the other flavors
Ooooh, I think I want to steam some carrots, and maybe kale for a smoothie. With some blueberries, and almond or coconut milk, and flax or chia seeds, I think that sounds like a great way to start the day! I also like to add PB for some protein. Anyone tried greek yogurt? Does it taste too tart?
I like to add kale and/or spinach great boost of super foods.

Carrots! I steam mine first because of allergies, but I think when you do steam them, it gives smoothies a thicker and sweeter consistency, almost like adding mashed sweet potato. It doesn't conflict with fruits or anything at all in terms of taste. OMNOMNOM

Kale is great in smoothies. It is a superfood. I don't care for the taste of it, but I don't notice it in a smoothie. Then I get all the goodies out of it without tasting it.

After watching the documentary Hungry for Change on Monday, I bought some cilantro to make a mango, cilantro and cucumber smoothie. Apparently, cilantro can actually help rid your body of heavy metals like mercury! Before I'd watched the documentary, I almost alway add kale or other greens to my smoothie.

Most leafy greens will work. I use Kale, Spinach, Romaine, Dandelion Greens. I have also used carrots, cucumbers, celery and beets.
Google "green smoothies" if you want recipes. Most of the smoothies i have made taste like whatever fruit is in it, so not sure the combinations matter that much. I put everything in raw. Some of the chunkier veg I chop up to make it easier to blend. I also toss a bit of avocado in sometimes.

The only other veggie I've tried is canned pumpkin.
I bet cucumber would be refreshing...maybe with watermelon or some sort of citrus, and fresh mint!

So, I've started to add veggies to smoothies because I have a hard time with the taste. So far they are always a mix of milk, banana, and berry with 1 cup of raw spinach and a few tsp of chia seeds and a few ice cubes. What other veggies can I sneak in? Or are certain fruits better with certain veggies? I'm new to this...previously the only veggie I was eating was occasional salads and french fries...which, I don't think the french fries really count :/
