did you talk to your health care provider about RLS and possible treatments? I have heard of putting a bar of soap under your sheets at the end of your bed while you sleep. I have no idea if it helps or not--we sometimes do this for our patients in the hospital when they complain of RLS. some say it helps--others say no.

It's true that getting enough magnesium in your diet is quite difficult. Certain diseases can also increase your likelihood of being magnesium deficient.

Magnesium and B vitamins are easily attainable OTC, but you should probably see a neurologist for a proper workup/diagnosis/treatment if this is really bothering you. My understanding is that there are several things that can cause a transient "restless leg" feeling, but that actual RLS is a neurological disorder.

Most people don't get enough magnesium in their diet. Try a Epsom Salt Bath, which is magnesium.

Add Magnesium citrate to your vitamin plan.

This always helps me.

I have had RSL most of my adult life. I have found that several things set off my symptoms: iron deficiency, too much caffeine, and letting my legs get cold. I sometimes drink caffeine but when I have problems at night I switch to decaf and the symptoms disappear within a couple of days. Also, if my legs get cold at night I have problems. I always keep my legs covered with a blanket. In the winter, I sometimes use an electric throw and put it across my legs. If I have a really bad night, I get up and walk around for a while. If I do these things, I can pretty much control my symptoms and not have to go on medication. Start observing the things you are eating or doing when you have problems with your RSL. You just might find simple ways to control your symptoms.

I found that cutting out diet soda really helped. Knock on wood, but I haven't suffered from it in ages, and it pretty much correlates to my giving up diet soda. Maybe it's the aspertame or something, but I have been avoiding artificial sweeteners and that seems to have made a difference. It's not the caffeine because I still drink plenty of coffee and tea.

Love your dog picture! I used to have that (not officially diagnosed) but after I started exercising, it hasn't bothered me anymore.

read this on another message board, and those who tried it swore that it worked - put a bar of soap at the bottom of your bed sheets (between the bottom and top sheet)

I have it also, and most days it bothers me. I have discovered that if I am tired it worsens. I will lay down and take a nap. I am on a mild muscle relaxer and lyrics. I h a v err been on many things and nothing helps much.

I read upon it and my doctor stated it will go away on it's own and it actually has! I had it in one leg and would stop sleeping on it! Hope this helps! emoticon emoticon

Anybody out there that has this syndrome and what do you do to relieve the symptoms. For me some days are worse than others.
