I have a mild case of OCD for one thing. But I'm known for using it as exercise. I have weekly and monthly lists. And the typical daily tidy. I set the oven timer for 10, 15 or 30 minutes depending on the list of tasks and work as fast as I can to get as much done as possible in that time.

Not being a slob.
I like to keep my house clean enough that I could always have friends stop by without being embarrassed. I try to keep it in such a state that, with about 5 minutes of speed cleaning, my home can be in tip-top shape.
Cannot stand it dirty, also it is a good way to cross train as you do a lot of different movements.

the motivation varies from time to time but overall, I'd have to say that mostly it amounts to keeping dH happy. that being said, I tend to focus on the kitchen and bathrooms so as to minimize germs /bacteria and odors.

If I do an exercise video, crunches, etc, I'm on the floor. I don't want whats on the floor to be on me, so I sweep. If I'm going to sweep, I might as well dust. In order to dust, everything has to be put away. Once done, need to do laundry, laundry done, I don't want to mess up what I just accomplished, so laundry gets put away. After thinking about all this, I'm worn out... maybe I'll just sit here and watch a Christmas video instead.

Accomplishment in getting it off of my to-do list! It's something that has to be done and a cluttered house is a cluttered mind!

in the last 30 days...inspection from fire department, a visit from the gas company to replace the meter and 2 visits from the realtor to show the house. otherwise it gets tidied and the dishes washed on the weekends when Im off from work
Every day is another opportunity to make a change!
My home isn't spotless but not super messy either. I am motivated to clean because I live here and spend time here. It isn't nice to spend time in a dirty, cluttered space. I do clean a bit more when I know guests are coming.

I am the worse housekeeper ever. Trust me there are days when I make Oscar Madison look clean. I think it comes from the fact that for the last 20 years I worked as a room cleaner in a hotel, and after cleaning 18 rooms a day at breakkneck speed, cleaning my own home was the last thing I wanted to do. Lately though I have gotten better, and when I hear company is coming over, the apartment does get spotless and organized. That's my motivation what's yours?
