Today was strange
one of those days where people comment negatively on my weight loss
"how much are you planning on losing?"etc
Today I am helthy because I know that I am doing right by my body
not undereating, not overeating
making sure that I get all my nutrients and my responsibility remains to my body
what other people think is their business, not mine
at 171 lbs I know that I am no where near anorexic lol.
an that my work towards health is just ODAT

healthy is accepting that I have been given a body that I am responsible for
Accepting that responsibility, and doing the right thing by it.
Taking care of my body as thought it is a fragile gift from god, instead of worring that it is not good enough

I have been trying to find my way back to being healthy for all of my adult life. What this email has made me realize is what I though would be healthy is not always healthy and I am going to try getting healthy your way, because it truly sounds like you have found what healthy is one good habit at a time,and how to get there. without lashing out, using food or any other self-destructive behaviors.
Finding other behaviors to replace the ones that are not so healthy
able to ask for help
as often as necessary
able to manage time not waste it
able to see oneself as a contributing member of society

Congratulations...that is a great story and truly inspirational. You are so right that it is about being healthy and not thin. I know some thin people who never work out or watch what they eat...and you know what, they aren't healthy. Big kudos on quitting smoking!!! THAT is not easy...I quit 22 years ago and still consider myself a smoker, although I would never take it up again. Being healthy is the best!!! Keep at it!!!!

I have to say thank you for the wake up. The email with this post was in my inbox I had not had time to read it. Now it has been about a month. And in that time my scale has been a yo-yo like it usually is. No matter how hard I try or work or focus. So I took a step back and I feel less stressed. This is very important to remember. So thank you for sharing.

What a great and inspiring message. I have had this revelation lately, it's hard. Because you really want to do it for health, but when you are honest with yourself often times you realize it is to be thin thinking this will make you feel better, desirable and happy. I am now healthy and happy and the pounds are coming off too...an added bonus, but no longer the cake.

CONGRATS ALL AROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have truly excited me....I too was diagnosed with high cholesterol and glucose levels. I can't wait to go back in November and have my doctor give me the same type of news. I'm claiming that my numbers will be lower than in March. Thanks for your posting, and you are doing SO GREAT!
