I understand the need for advertising popups ... they enable SparkPeople to provide this wonderful website at no cost to us. Occasionally some of the popups cause me to have to log off and come back in ... which is a small price to pay for having such a wonderful place to meet friends and regain our health.

@LUANN_IN_PA I also use ad block plus on my Firefox browser and haven't seen an ad in ages. LOVE IT! There's also one for Google Chrome

The annoying pop-up ads that are driving me crazy and probably others are the ads that popup when you just happen to move your cursor over an embedded link. This problem doesn't occur in IE, but it occurs in Chrome and Firefox. I just tested the enclosed page link. If I just move my cursor over the link unintentionally (trying to get to the scroll bar) and don't stop on the link, the ad will pop up. This makes it very had to maneuver around when there are 2-3 ads that pop up and I have to go close down in order to read an article. .

For example, a page this this is happening on is: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivation_ar
ticles.asp?id=1454

Please don't tell me to us IE. I avoid IE like the plague.

I haven't experienced those, but you can report ads that are either bad or causes you to have trouble using the site. This page has info on how to report it: www.sparkpeople.com/community/help_answer.

I've been noticing this too and it is very aggravating. I understand this is a free website and the owners have to make their money somehow but these ads make it very difficult to use this website. emoticon

After years of happily using SP, I'm now finding a big square box popping up whenever I am trying to use or read my blogs... it's extremely aggravating, because they WON'T go away. Clicking on the X only makes them slide down to the bottom, and you have to try to read around this big box! Even if you click the ad and go to their website and come back, the box remains! Why?!?! PLEASE - someone do away with this type of obnoxious advertising! I understand SP needs to use ads to raise money and keep the site free, which I appreciate and have never minded. However, these boxes are ridiculous and I - and me, a very easy going person, find myself getting frustrated, then irritated, and even angry at those stupid boxes! It really takes away some of the joy I've always felt when using SparkPeople! Can someone explain why this is happening, and maybe tell me how to eliminate these ad boxes?
