Not to be contraversal, but some questions only require one word answers. Like "Do you like eggs"? Yes. Thats a one word answer. I posted more about what kind and how I like my eggs. But it really only requires a one word answer.

You know what else clutters up the cafe, pushing discussion topics off the front page? Duplicate postings of the exact same thread, in the exact same forum, 24 hours apart ;) www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.a

It is mind boggling how many people don't see the instruction that is placed just above the Spark People's Café "Create a new topic button.

It says:
"General, fun discussion about a variety of topics. Please post one-word answer and game threads in the Game Room, not in the Café."

I don't mean to rain on everyone's parade but after talking with the staff of spark people, they indicated that they have spent a lot of time and effort to remove single word or non-discussion response message posts from the café.

Of course when someone goes into the Café and sees the topics, they simply go into the threads and respond to the posts regardless of the topics not knowing that single word response or non-discussion questions don't belong in the Café. So in essence they are entirely unaware of the problem that is occurring.

The purpose as it is stated is for the Café to be specifically designated for the Spark Community to gather for discussion and when one word or simple answer posts fill the café, the discussion topics get pushed off the screen and those who are actually seeking help end up sometimes not receiving the help and support they are seeking because there discussion requests or messages aren't seen by fellow Sparksters.

I realize that there are some that really don't care about such rules but I believe that that number is small amongst the community here in the Spark People Community. Also if the people who post these types of threads are not directly made aware of their error, they have no idea of any error that has been made. I think that the more likely and understandable reason is that people just don't see it there and post their messages to create accountability and encouragement for their fellow Sparksters. Especially when it seems as that is the only type of message posted in the Café.

The moderators have had to go through and remove each post individually which is a lot of work in order to undo the violations that occur when non-discussion topics are posted in the Café. The Spark People Staff has given instruction to mark such posts in the Café as containing Inappropriate Content so that the mediators could remove them early. They said after choosing the Inappropriate Content to mark them as having Single Word response threads or Non-Discussion topics and that they would remove them as it is not what they desire to have fill the Café! Can you image what sort of task that would be if you were required to delete each post individually. I believe that it would cause me to give up after a few full days of doing it.

The purpose of this post is to make a simple and kind request to just acknowledge the instruction that has been placed there above the "Create a New Topic" button and do as the creators of this wonderful site have requested.

Thanks for understanding a I do thank all of you that are just trying to help encourage and challenge one another as we seek to succeed at our weight and health goals.
