I'd have a "legal" portion of what I was craving and list it in my nutrition tracker. If I wasn't hungry, I'd drink a glass of water and get busy with a diversion. If I was hungry, I'd have a measured portion of a "legal" snack.

If I want something sweet, I heat up a cup of chocolate soy milk with some cinnamon and agave. If I want something salty, I make some air popped popcorn with some coconut oil and himalayan salt....and lots of water....
Sometimes I just make some herbal tea...a chai or licorice type and that may be all I need.

I'm very lucky that it doesn't happen often to me. On the rare occasions when I want to rip my house apart looking for sugar (usually after a night of way too little sleep) I tell someone how I'm feeling. Most of the time just admitting it out loud is enough to make me lose the urge. Even when it's not my friends/family are all very good about reminding me that I really don't want to make myself sick and unhappy like that.
I also have this hanging on my fridge and in my pantry:
"If the problem isn't hunger, the answer isn't food."

Binge! LOL! Just kidding. After searching through all my cupboards for chocolate, i drink some water, cuz usually i want to binge after i already ate. Your mind can't really distinguish between hunger and thirst and it is difficult to realize that what you are is thirsty, not hungry. So, I give it the test. Usually after I drink the water, the "hunger" feelings go away.

I look in a mirror. I know how I need to look and feel and overeating won't get me there. Also I drink a glass of water. Sometimes just doing something like the laundry helps the feeling to pass.
If you can't talk yourself out of it.... I'll have a piece of fruit and cheese or I make myself 3 cups of hot air popcorn. There is something about a finger food, that looks like a lot of stuff in a bowl, and takes some time to eat.

I tell myself that I refuse to buy bigger clothes, and I keep my skinny clothes as inspiration to fit into them again.
BTW, I also allow myself a couple of hundred calories a day of whatever I am craving, that way I won't feel so deprived and I'm not setting myself up for an all out binge. So far it's working.

I remind myself about how hard I've worked to accomplish what I have and how easy it would be to let it all go backwards. I also remind myself about how bad I'll feel - both physically and emotionally - if I eat all the crap. It usually works.
I go up to bed and refuse to allow myself to come down!

I call my mom. She can usually talk me out of it.
I might go to bed, if it's close to bedtime. I'm a nighttime snacker, so sometimes that's the best way to deal with it.
I also try really hard not to keep trigger foods in my house, but I don't live alone, and I can't exactly ask my husband and kids to live without treats just because I have no self control. There are certain foods I don't buy anymore-- plain rippled potato chips for example, because they SPEAK to me, I swear it-- but usually I have to find another solution.
Another thing that works for me is to put in EVERY calorie in my tracker. Knowing I'm going to have to do that will often keep me from making a stupid choice. And seeing the results of previous binges helps me not want to do it again.

I have twice-a-month binges, regularly scheduled, so I always know there's one up ahead... that keeps me from bingeing. Weird, I know, but it's worked.

I ensure that I don't keep food in my house that is 'binge-able'. Nothing that's as easy as grab a bag and find the bottom before I realize I've done it. I keep, as best I can, whole foods that must be prepared and don't really lend themselves well to binging.
When I have pita chips in the house, I'm as likely to polish off the whole bag at once with a bowl of salsa or guacamole as I am to staying on track and portioning them out over the week. So I tend not to keep them on hand.
However, that doesn't mean I give up snacks entirely, I just have to make them first. I *do* keep pita bread in the house on occasion, and I gently peel the two halves apart and cut into strips, brush a little olive oil on, and bake. I make a single serving size of pita chips for when I want them, and because it takes prep work to make more, I'm less likely to binge.
Same with potato chips or kale chips. Cut very thin slices (potatoes) or tear into small pieces (kale), toss with a little olive oil and some seasoning (I like a hint of cayenne with pepper and thyme) and bake until crispy. Still tasty, but making only a single portion so I don't go overboard.
Popcorn is the same way, pop just one portion and have that.
I don't keep anything on hand (as a general rule) that I can go crazy on.

Drink a big glass of water, go for a walk, don't keep any "trigger" foods in your house, remove yourself from food areas. For me, since I cleaned up my diet and eliminated process food, sugar, including artificial sweeteners, I rarely have the urge to binge. It took a while, but the effort was well worth it!
